My mom has found out that she has this rare eye disorder. She went do Duke University yesterday to get some tests done. However, no one seems to know much about it. Can someone please that is at all familiar with this disorder please help me.

Birdshot is a supposedly rare disease, although I suspect it is increasing. It was never seen prior to 1980, it is genetic, but also has an unknown environmental trigger. Typical treatment consists of steriods/prednisone for treatment of inflammation, edema, etc., coupled with an immuno-suppressant, such as cyclosporin, Cellcept, etc. The experts in this condition recommend aggressive treatment, as prognosis is blindness.
