:-( I had similar symptons that led to me loosing conciousness, spiked blood pressure, and stroke like symptions. I spent over $3000 in co-pays for multi trips to ER's and Specialist for a 3 month period. I felt like I was dying. Visit after visit, I had no answers, all the standard test result from blood work and CT scans showed normal. Finally an ENT (Ear nose & throat specialist) took and MRI of the front and back sinus and the MRI showed air pressure build up in the sphenoid sinus and an anti-biotic resistant infection in the Sphenoid Sinus that was almost abscessing into the brain. I had to have surgery to have the infection drained from the sinsus since the anitbiotics did not work. Don't give up, you know your own body, what doctors don't know can kill you. I Recommend you go to an ENT , several of them if you have until you find one that is fimilar with your symptons and request an MRI of the sphenoid sinus and the sinsus pockets located at the back of the head around the neck area. The infections are not always picked up with CTs. You may find some temperory relief from 500 mg of vitamin C and drinking a cup of tea from boild fresh ginger and a teaspon of honey once a day.
Best of health wishes to you. Keep fighting, you only have one life.

I live in Georgia-been now since May 2007. Never really had this much problems with my sinuses and eyes. It just doesn't seem to be getting better. Got my wisdom teeth taken out in March 2008 and it's been nothing but problems since. Wake up with some serious post nasal drip spitting up brown to yellow to clear mucus. Some days are worse than others. Can't really drink soda or caffinated drinks or milk but it's just so hard to stay away from that. I've taken antiboitics, nasal sprays, allergy meds and nasal rinses-you name it I've probably tried it. Not sure whats going on and when I'm not feeling good-I don't even look myself. This is a touchy subject to me, just wish I could get a handle on this. I have an appointment to see a specialist this week. I hope they can help me get back to being me. I can't stand the eye sensitivity, temple and jaw pain. The worse the pressure the more it takes a toll on my energy. I'm not sure how stress plays a factor on this but being stressed physically and emotionally really puts me out. Maybe someone with similar symptoms can offer me futher detail. I never had problems with my sinuses, eyes, head pressure-nothing. I'm really at a loss at this point. Could it just be I'm allergic to Georgia, don't think I'm allergic to dogs, Have I been exposed to mold? Is this just an infection from getting my wisdom teeth pulled. Every doctor I've been to has given me a different diagnosis and prescribed different meds. Maybe the meds screwed me up. Initially they were saying possible sinusitus and My last diagnosis they said that all symptoms point to allergies, they really didn't have an answer though. This is Georgia they would say. I'm like your not helping the problem.
I didn't have to get my wisdom teeth out but the Dentist insisted it would give me problems later when they could put pressure on my nerves when I get older. Seems the problems are here now. The dentist said I could get a sinus infection and I've told every doctor the same story but they are saying it's alergies. It's gotta be an infection and I think living in Georgia is keeping it around=Why are sinus infections so hard to get better-frustrating.

Hello to all,

I have the same compression from the frontal head into eyes and feel very sleepy and tired. I have it very long time, but it is horrible since nine years.
In my case doctor told me that trigeminal nerve, Nr. 1 is pressing from the head and trigeminal 2 is pressing from the cheek bones. As I had (and still have) some very dry sinusitis, they say that my ATN is from sinusitis. Sinusitis I have from the neck muscle (always in tension).
I have visited all possible doctors, chiropractors and private therapies but didn't help as I live in the mountain area (in the valley).
21 years ago they found that my thyroid is too small, that I was born with small thyroid; what means I take hormones. My pains in the eyes and cheek bones are not from thyroid.
I am trying to move because of the weather: cold, windy and wet makes me totally finished. Until now I didn't visit nutritionist, but I have to. Maybe there is the problem?

My advice to all: maybe you should see, how is your thyroid working? Thyroid makes too many problems, especially if somebody lives in cold area.

Ms. Bobbie

That is very interesting about Sphenoid Sinus. I had CT scan of sinuses but not from Sphenoid sinus. There is a feeling that some mucus (sometimes) is coming from the right side and I have then also jaw bones pains.

Thank you for this information.

It could be some case of Nrcolepsy.
Narcolepsy is often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed. People with narcolepsy often wait to to consult a doctor because the most common (and sometimes the only) symptom is excessive daytime sleepiness, a symptom which could be indicative of many conditions. Additionally, narcolepsy symptoms are often falsely attributed to other sleep disorders or medical conditions (such as depression or epilepsy). Cataplexy (sudden loss of muscle control) is the sole unique symptom of narcolepsy.

Diagnosis of narcolepsy can take a very long time, sometimes more than one year, or even up to several decades. If you suspect you have narcolepsy, be sure to speak with your doctor about all symptoms you are experiencing.

Along with your list of symptoms, physicians and sleep specialists use the following methods to diagnose narcolepsy:

Epworth Sleepiness Scale – A general sleep questionnaire.
Nocturnal polysomnogram- This overnight test measures the electrical activity of your brain and heart , and the movement of your muscles and eyes.
Multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) – This test measures how long it takes for you to fall asleep during the day.
Spinal fluid analysis – The lack of hypocretin in the cerebrospinal fluid may be a marker for narcolepsy. Examining spinal fluid is a new diagnostic test for narcolepsy.

hopefully this helps!

I recenty had an operation to remove nasal polyps, after repaeted sinus infections. After the operation I had lots of noise in my ears, which i thought would go away. To cut a long story short , I had an acute infection on my sinuses which resulted in hospitalization with intravenous antibiotics. I am out of hospital and no onger on antibiotics. However, I am intemittently troubled by sharp head pain at the top of my head which traveld round the back of my ear, down my neck and back. I also have a pressure like build up all around my head including my eyes. Its as thought someone has my head in a vice lock and if you were to put a hole in it , pressure would release ( a bit like a pressure cooker). As I twist my head, I can feel crunching in my head and neck. I have a constand wishing sound in my ears and seem to be loosing the level og hearing I had. I have been off antibiotics for 3 weeks now but still getting discolouration from my left nostril which is also causing facial and mouth pain. Each time I go out for a run to exercise I return with more head pressure and headache. Any suggestion anybody, as its driving me mad. I am becoming less tolerant and alittle manic.

Well, this might help some of you and some it will not. I have had neck, shoulder, and back pain. My vision would act up at times, heard crackling sounds in my head and ringing in my ears (ringing not as much), extreme fatigue, off and on I would feel as though I was getting sick w chills or fever only I wouldn't have a fever. Chest, Muscle and joint pain. My head would feel heavy and or almost always feel like I could get a headache or did have them. Sometimes the pressure was around eyes. Various symptoms over a long time. Labs, xrays of the chest and back, & CT Abdomen and pelvis would all come back negative or normal. I saw a Cardiologist and had tests which was normal other than one test that said he felt my sinus bradycardia was neurally mediated. I had my eyes examined and was told I had 20/20 vision and dry eye syndrome. Finally, I made charts and took them to my doctor where I had researched my symptoms to certain disorders/diseases and had a lengthy visit discussing them. She ordered and MRI Brain and set up a referral to an Endocrinologist. My MRI Brain was normal but suggested I have a lumbar tap (LP) done to check out my cerebral spinal fluid (csf). I was referred to a Neurologist and he looked in my eyes and said my optic nerves were swollen and ordered a LP to confirm my diagnosis. It was normal except my pressure was elevated. It turned out I had Intracranial Pressure also known as Pseudotumor Cerebri. This condition is where your body doesn't absorb your CSF and the pressure builds up. When the pressure builds up it causes symptoms and problems similar to those caused from a brain tumor only you don't a have a tumor. The main thing they have to do is get your pressure down either by medication or placing a shunt in the side of your head. If this is not treated it can cause blindness. When your vision is acting up you need to be seen then so they can see if your optic nerve is swollen at that time. He ordered a MRA to check out my blood vessels inside my head which he said was normal. Interesting enough. once I got diagnosed, then other specialist tested me for other things that have been linked to Pseudotumor. I had a sleep study done and MLST. He said if I tested negative for sleep apnea then they would keep me for the MLST to check and see if I have narcolepsy. He said most people who have Pseudotumor are known to have narcolepsy. They know they are linked but not sure why. I also have seen a Endocrinologist and he said people who have pseudotumor usually have problems with their pituitary. My thyroid labs were in the normal range but he said my thyroid is failing. My TSH was on the higher range of normal and my T3 was on lower end and my T4 was on the higher end. He said my TSH (which is my pituitary function) was having to work harder when converting my T3 (thyroid hormone) to my T4 (thyroid reserves). This was the 2nd Endocrinologist I saw. Next week he is doing a U/S of my thyroid and started me on Synthroid. The labwork testing for diff Thyroid antibodies were normal so he is uncertain why it is failing at this time. ALL OF THIS... makes sense-it is all related to areas of my brain and nervous system. Your nervous system controls diff areas that control your breathing, sensations, moods, heart rate, pituitary, etc. One of the most important functions of the hypothalamus is to link the nervous system to the endocrine system via the pituitary gland. Anyway it is all linked... All I can say is don't give up. TRUST your body and instincts. If you know something is wrong keep pushing to find out. ADVICE... make sure you have an individual insurance policy first (not through employer) and don't procrastinate like me because once you are diagnosed then if you ever try to go from a group policy to individual coverage then it will be considered pre-existing, or you will be un-insurable, or it will cost a arm and a leg to have it. It is fine to keep group insurance but if you become unable to work then COBRA benefits don't last and then what? you will have to seek insurance elsewhere if they will give it to you. It wouldn't hurt to get a good Disability insurance policy also but look up the terminology and make sure you are buying a policy that is worth it. One that will allow you to get social security while getting disability. The cadillac policy of them all is a Own-Occupation policy with a social security rider, noncancellable and guaranteed renewable, with a cost of living inflation rider, waiver of premium, and benefits paid on loss of income for temporary and/or permanent disability. Own Occupation-means you can't perform your duties/job you were doing at the time of the disability but allows you to be able to work while collecting disability benefits. The other policies do not allow you to work at all, some of the policies require the company to decide whether you are disabled or not. Anyway, Hope all of you get well...

It seems that there is either a mystery medical condition going around or there is a lot of stress going around. I began having
very strange panic/anxiety attacks when I was smoking with a couple of good buddies of mine and ever since then I was a little paranoid
about my health. After ending up with a heart monitor and blood tests everything came back fine, my thyroid was also working just
wonderfully. I recently came down with a very soar throat with the "cobble" texture and the University Health center was oh so helpful in trying to test me for strep. It wasn't strep. Go figure I could of told them that. I was also running a fever of about 102 degrees. The fever went away and i was holding out at about 96.7 degrees roughly. My eyes were itchy and red, still are red and the pressure in my head
has yet to go away. My mom is a nurse and had me put on a broad spectrum antibiotic called ampicillin which is something like amoxicillin.
It's been 4 days on antibiotics and my nose is mostly cleared but the head ache and the red eyes are persistent. I almost want to say that it is all just stress related and dismiss it until it disappears; I don't know what else to do. MRI's are just so expensive and from the looks of it everyone seems to checked out some MRI's and came out with nothing. I might just have to vouch that it is stress related and worrying about it and searching up symptoms on the computer are only going to make matters worse. If you have tried many of the medical routes and still come up with empty buckets maybe we all need to just relax a little bit. Stress is stressful and you body can and will react to it. I'm just gonna keep exercising, eating my fruits and vegetables, and stretching. i will continue to drink plenty of water and I really do wish the best of luck to all of you in your quest to discover the root of your symptoms.

I've been having the same symptoms for more than 3 months now. Recently I was rushed into a hospital for vertigo, and had taken a urine, blood, and CT scan to see if I had an infection or perhaps a brain tumor. Everything was shown to be perfect. Incredible to my astonishment, the only diagnosis I got was Meniere's Disease. I've been frustrated and stressed over the fact that this spectrum of symptoms do not seem to bring a clear diagnosis to what may be going on with my body. The only thing that has come 99.99% close is Anxiety. Apparently Anxiety and Stress contribute to the arousal of these symptoms; fatigue, facial pain (tension headaches), mild tachycardia (120-130bpm), IBS, feeling as if you were going to black/pass out, shortness of breath, muscle stiffness, et al. After acknowledging to myself that what was going on with my body was indeed the result of too much Anxiety and Stress (both conscious and subconscious) my life is slowly taking a turn for the better. I've learned throughout my premedical educational career, that neurons after constant similar treatment (emotional; stress, anxiety, euphoria... etc.) they tend to "wire up" in such fashion that promotes the regularity of these "emotional chemical reactions". If one can find a strong way to start living life as if the factors that cause our stress and anxiety were never there, the physiological symptoms will be become to wear off slowly but surely. Although many of the symptoms I've experienced have been a tad bit dramatic and life threatening I have taken the necessary approach and gone to see professional help (and so should you), because in most cases Anxiety is the source, but there's always a probably it may not be Anxiety after all. Hope this helps all of you who are in tune with this thread. I'm seeing results in my life and hopefully you guys will soon as well.
