I have just come off the Yasmin pill as my partner and I are trying for a baby, its been 3 weeks now and I have had pain in my temple, dizziness and because of this felt sicky (surely im not pregnant yet?!) Anyway Im glad there are a few people out there that are saying the same. I feel like I have an elastic band tied round the top of my head some days. Ive had it all day today and ended up being very tearful as its getting me down, but as Im writing this it has passed slightly so I feel better, just not looking forward to tomorrow. I had a massage last night and an indian head massage whilst the therapiest was doing it felt brilliant but it seem to come back with a vengence.
Talking to Dr about it tomorrow, will let you all know what she says!

I am having the same issue and really feel that it is withdrawal. Is it worth taking one of the low does pills here and there to ease myself through the withdrawal? Would that be dangerous? Kinda desperate and sick of taking narcs to deal with pain.

Hello all! I was on birth control pills for a year and a half and HATED them. (currently 23 yes old) I switched 3 times.... Each of which came with their own string of issues. I finally gave up, and ditched the pill all together! I also had severe headaches after stopping the pill. I went to a chiropractor for an adjustment which helped A LOT! I know the headaches were from the pill but the adjustment helped relieve the severity. I'd highly recommend that those of you having headaches to see a chiropractor and drink lots of water and take an Advil (Tylenol, excedrin... Your pain reliever of choice). I've heard that drinking lots of water helps to flush those nasty bcp junk out! If they don't go away, call your doc.

And also... To the person wondering about taking a lose dose pill, I was on a low dose pill and still got headaches after.

Hi ladies, since i posted my headaches have gone away but ill still get a twinge now and then. One thing that did help was take some sort of pain reliever before it even came on (they always came at night) and this seemed to prevent them.

Hi All
Just come across this site after suffering headaches now for over 4 weeks constantly. Its made me feel so much better reading that I'm not the only one. I have been on Trinovum for over 20 years, and started having right sided headaches over last 6 months. Doc said to stop taking pill straight away, but the all over pain, tightening, and nausea/dizziness have been awful since. No quality of life, and doc now referring me for a CT scan just to reassure that nothing nasty going on in my head. Thats on Wednesday - hopefully all it will be is the hormone thing - and like many have said it should go once the bcp is well out of my system.
Feel a bit more positive after finding you all ;-)

My dermatologist put me on birth control for acne, and the first week and half i felt sick and hungry.
then the rest of the time i felt horribly sick like throwing up all the time, i was only on the bc
for two months when i realized it was the pill. But when i stopped taking the pill the sickness
went away but horrible headaches took place in the left side of my head. I'm only a teenager, my
headaches are making me go insane. How long will this torture last???

I stopped taking bc (OrthoCyclen) three weeks ago after being on it for almost 20 years, except when I had my son.  I was bleeding and spotting intermittently, and the doctor said that I was getting too old to be on the pill and should look at another option.  So after this last round of bleeding for three weeks straight, I decided to just stop taking the pill altogether.  For the past few years, I have been suffering from menstrual migraines.  Ever since I stopped taking the pill I have daily morning migraines, I assume from the hormone withdrawal.  I take Excedrin Migraine every morning which seems to help, but it's still not fun waking up with a migraine every morning.  I recently discovered through "The 17 Day Diet" that magnesium supplements have shown to help relieve menstrual migraines.  The diet recommends 400 mg twice a day.  I took my first dose this morning and will continue to see if it helps.  Just a suggestion to the other women out there suffering from this same problem.  Good luck!

I read this this morning and found some other info online...and tried taking Ibuprofen and coenzyme Q10 and my headache is mostly gone for the first time in 10 days!

I was taking Acetaminophen...and it didn't do anything.  I tried no caffine, a little caffine and my usual caffine - there was no change.

I figured an anti-infamatory (ibuprofen) and a supplement that is supposed to help with migraines - might do something.  Well, it worked for me.  So, I thought I better throw it out there.

Has anyone tried going back on the pill to stop the headaches?  Just wondering how long it will take for the headaches to go away if you start taking the pill again.

I stopped using nuva ring a couple of months ago and have been having the most horrendous headaches for about a month now. They always come at night and last for at least 2 hours. I refuse to go back on birth control, but these headaches are ruling my life! I had been on some form of hormonal birth control for the past 11 years and guess its hormone withdrawal. Will it ever end? I can't take these much longer.

k - Thanks so much for this post. I had a non-stop headache for 10 days after stopping the pill (after 25 yrs). Nothing was working. However, I started taking the CoQ10 yesterday and the headache has almost disappeared. Thanks again!

i would gather that everyone when stopping their birthcontrol, went off it cold turkey.stopping any long term medication without weening is never recommended and is very likely the cause of these symptoms your experiencing.i would suggest taking a bc pill everyother day for a week or two, then every third day for the same.then once a week for a week or two, finally ending at none.very likely the reason for these headaches.
good luck to all of you and i hope you better soon.(pardon sloppiness as im wrtting from my cell)

It's been a bit over a month since stopping the pill now. After about 2 weeks on COQ10, I no longer need that either. Headaches are gone and energy starting to return.
