I have the same situation with all you ladies here. I took the BC pills for a year and just recently stopped taking it for a month now. I begin to get this nasty headaches. Wakes me up in the middle of the night. It is always one sided. My left temple to be exact and feels like it goes through my jaw and then it makes me want to vomit. It comes every now and then ant it disrupts my sleep. I am thinking it is because i stopped taking my BCP. I am going to see the doctor this friday and hope i can find answers.
I am so sorry to hear this. I have had exactly the same feeling. A headache in your nose... You couldn't make this up. Although mine moves around too. Behind the eyes and nose. The back of my head and the crown, and across my forehead too. This has been continuous for 6 months, I am sorry to say. And I have never been a headache sufferer. Hopefully yours will not go on like this. This has been a life changer for me. I'm exhausted and tired of being in pain and getting no answers.
You have no idea how happy I was to see this thread, especially yours! I have the exact same symptoms, and have had them for YEARS. I was curious if my headaches were due to not taking B/C because I realized that I started getting them around the same time as I got off them. This was back in 2005. They were not as bad as they have been in the last six years. I have been to a couple different doctors, the first one in about 2006 I was told to take antihistamine, did not work. In 2008 I was told by a different doc that it is okay to take up to 18 Tylenol a day!! Jack ass. I had given up, but in 2014 I tried again because these literally have gotten to be daily and life altering- he immediately sent me in for a CT scan but they said everything looked fine. He tells me that the only thing I can do is go to massage therapist a few times a week or an acupuncturist... who can afford that? Anyway, Have you looked into getting back on birth control or??
Thank you!
I am 46 and was getting visual auras from birth control. Too much of a stroke risk for me to go back on...
Hi all!
Just looking for an update how everyone is?
I'm having non stop headaches, stiff neck, dizzy spells and feeling tired after coming off the pill too - it's been a month now.
Thanks in advance :)
I'm sorry to report, I'm 7 1/2 months into my headache. i believe I am better than I was a few months ago, but it's a very slow and depressing process. I'd love to hear some good news from others!
This is my EXACT situation! On Junel 1 month for cysts and menstrual migraines, stopped about a week ago because it GAVE me headaches, have had daily headaches/migraines and stiff neck since stopping. I have been seeing a neurologist and being treated for migraines (with a bit of relief) for 8 years. Prior to Junel I had been on Mirena IUD, which had been slightly better for my menstrual migraines. I will probably be going back to the Mirena, as that BC method has been the least of all the evils as far as giving me headaches, even though I still get them with Mirena. I also get menstrual migraines while on no BC. PLEASE update me on how your 1-month Junel hormone withdrawal headache situation is going, as it is the same as mine!
I went off Cyclin in December after being on it for 14 years. The first three months were ok... But I'm assuming that's because I still had a lot of synthetic hormones still lingering and regulating my body. I fainted in March and have had headaches and vertigo since... It's been three months of dizziness. My eyes are sensitive to light. Sound also bothers me. I literally feel like I'm looking at the world through someone else's eyes...I can't explain what a nightmare I've been living. I pray every day that I'll wake up feeling better. The mornings are the worst until about 2pm and then I steadily feel better until I go to sleep only to wake up having to struggle all over again. My emotions are all over the place. That being said I'm fighting the good fight... Don't want to go back on the pill because I know I'll have to go through this nightmare again at some point when I decide to stop. I've seen an ENT for vertigo.. They say that it's not an inner ear problem but most likely due to my hormones changing. My gynocologist has been no help, any time I bring it up she tells me it's likely not going off the pill. I really disagree, there are thousands of woman on the internet all experiencing very similar withdrawal symptoms.
This is very likely from coming off the pill. It's rare but it's happening to lots of women. I am in my 8th month of a horrible daily persistent headache after going off the pill. Thankfully I am improving, albeit slowly, and my doctor thinks its going to eventually go away. But I have been through hell. Find a neurologist/headache specialist that understands New Daily Persistent headache. I am currently at Jefferson headache Center in Philadelphia with Dr. Stephanie Nahas. They are wonderful there. Although this is totally unstudied and undocumented, they have seen this phenomenon after women go off birth control. It is rare, but it is happening. If you are improving at all, even very slowly, that is great news. But the bad news is it can take a long time to go away completely. Anywhere from a few months to 2 years I have heard. I have tried a lot of different medications. but i feel mine is just going to have to run its course. I was on the pill for 6 years. I did go back on the pill twice just to see. The first time the headache miraculously went away, but the visual auras returned with the estrogen, which is dangerous (i am 46), so I had my dosage lowered and the headache came back. I tried going on again 2 months later and it caused a terrible migraine. No more pill for me. Need to get my system functioning properly again. My advice: dump your Obgyn and primary care doc when it comes to this. They are great for many things but they know nothing about this. Find a Neuro/headache specialist that has seen this before. There are treatments and meds to help. Good luck! It may just take time :(
I had the Nexplanon implant for 6 months. In that 6 months I had an increase in depression, feelings of being detached from the world, constant spotting, loss of libido, and occasional headaches. I finally got it removed on 05/20/15 and had three days of nausea after that. Otherwise I felt amazing. Then for the last 10 days I have had the weirdest "pressure headaches". I only call them that because I've never really experienced this feeling before. It's sort of like a pressure behind my eyes and nose. A legitimate headache in my nose! I was feeling worried that maybe something was wrong with my brain, but seeing that hormones can have long term effects on our bodies makes me certain it's most likely just my body trying to regulate after the Nexplanon removal.
I'm having the exact problem.... it's been two weeks for me also... I'm also having cramps and my hormones are ragging.... did you figure out the issue??? When should I go to the doctor????
I am relieved to have found this site but nervous about these headaches I have been having since stopping birth control. I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 5 years, went off birth control about 3 years ago, and was totally fine. I didn't experience any headaches or withdrawal symptoms. Then about 2 years ago, I started on Ortho Tri Cyclen again, but I started having breakthrough bleeding so my doctor switched me to Lomedia 24 Fe, a low dose pill. For reference, I am 28 years old.
Now, I've been off the Lomedia 24 Fe for 12 days and the headaches have only gotten worse. They are mainly at the top front of my head and make me feel lightheaded and dizzy. I honestly thought there was something wrong with my brain the first time this happened. I also feel very tired and just want to close my eyes to rest. Sometimes I feel nauseous, too. But mainly this is just painful and exhausting.
Has anyone tried any female balancing pills? I found one by NOW Foods called "Female Balance." You can find it on Amazon if you're curious. There are a lot of reviews that they helped women regulate their hormones and periods after getting off birth control, but nothing about headaches. I was wondering if anyone here has tried anything like this with good results?
At this point, I just want my body to get back in sync. I don't think I ever want to be on the pill again. Had I known this would happen, I would have never started again in the first place! I hope everyone here is felling better. Sending love and health to all of my fellow warriors.

Just a quick update from yesterday. After reading all of the posts about this, I saw a few people had some success with CoQ10. So I drank two teaspoons of Qunol Liquid CoQ10 this morning (I got it from Costco) and my headache is MUCH better today. Yesterday I couldn't concentrate at all, it was so bad. I still have a headache today, but it duller and I am able to actually ignore it and get some work done.
I'm not sure if anyone is still checking this, but I will continue to update as I try different things. Maybe the CoQ10 will work better the longer I take it. I also ordered the NOW Foods Female Balance, so fingers crossed it works.
Good luck, everyone! :)

Another update. The CoQ10 seems to be helping, but hasn't eliminated the headaches completely. I am getting the Female Balance pills today and really hope they eliminate my remaining ache.
The weird thing about my headache is it feels like it moves to a new part of my head everyday. Is anyone else experiencing this?
When I stopped birth control, I stopped after the first week of my new pill pack. This caused me to have another period, which might have contributed to throwing my body out of whack.
With the Female Balance pills I plan on taking them for a week straight, and if they help, to slowly decrease the amount I take over time. I hope to have a positive update a week from today!
Has everyone else on here cured their headaches or are you still struggling?

Another update. The Female Balance pills are totally working!!! I've been taking them for five days and my headaches are gone!!! I am going to continue taking them until I get my first period after birth control, and then I'm going to slowly ween off of them. However, I am going to switch multivitamins (when mine are done) to the Rainbow Light Women's One Multivitamin, as it also has hormone balancing herbs. Hopefully by then I will be completely off the Female Balance and just on the Multivitamin. :)
Good luck everyone!
Good luck everyone!
