I experience the same thing but it does not seem as intense as yours. I do experience heart palpitations where it " catches my breath" and then I cough momentarily. It can happen when I am lying down or getting on with my day. I have had chest pains, heart palpitations and these episodes for years. I've been in the emergency room twice with chest pains and have explained my symptoms to my doctor on numerous occasions. The latest? if the heart palpitations or pains persist, go back to the ER. I have had ECGs and stress tests completed. Nothing has ever been found. I am a 45 year old professional woman, in good shape, not overweight, don't smoke and drink occasionally. At times, I feel I am being dismissed because I don't fit the typical risk factor group! One of my brothers had a heart attack at 41 and another brother has had heart issues since his 40s. Think that's the only reason I got an ECG at my last ER visit over 2 years ago. Just had an episode yesterday which prompted me to get back online to do more research. May be time for another visit to my physician.

I believe I've been having the same thing for a few months now. I feel this sudden drop in the back of my throat with the immediate urge to cough. I'm an EMT so I grabbed my stethascope and took a listen. Sure thing , it sounded like my heart was skipping a beat. I would hear "thump thump, thump thump, thump______, thump thump. I went to the ER and of course my heart stopped doing it. EKG was normal, doc said no murmur, and chest X-ray was good. Next week I'm going to wear a monitor for 24 hours. Some of the staff said caffeine and alcohol could increase this some times. Also some narcotic pain killers. I did have all three the day before. I'm going to stop taking oxycodone, preworkout drink, and glass of wine before bed. I hope these actions help. This is a scary thing. I'll keep you guys posted.

I have read all of the posts on arterial fibrillation. I have it, and have had for years on and off, now it came back strong within the last few months. Can't get a good night sleep. I am a very light sleeper, wondering if this is common in light sleepers. Seems like my body would calm and relax my heart rate if I could ge into a deep sleep. Also wnt thru a diet change, for the better, then back again to dairy.and wheat. Was trying to see if cutting those things out of my diet for awhile would have positive or negative affect on me??? Maybe some shift in vitamins/ minerals ?? did something??? or stopped it, and then it started back again stronger??? I don't know, stumped, but still searching!

Thanks, glad to know an EMT could offer a more educated idea/ guess. I will be interested to see what you find. I have had this for the past few months really bad, and have been trying to find out what I can do to stop it. It is scary.

Me Too! It seemed to start when I got this nice promotion at work. But I don't feel stressed about too much, though it's already challenging. I plan on seeing a doctor about it , just as soon as I can get thru this Obama care mess Im caught up in! My palpitations get pretty strong sometimes and always seem to come in sets of 3 or 4. It goes 2 beats, then what feels like a failed attempt at a beat, then a couple THUDS as it seems to try to catch up. And always is worse when I lay down, or sit down for that matter.

Anyone taking Co Q10 daily, at different times of day, so you don't associate the palpatations with the taking of the suppliment but with something else you recently ate or drank..I'm sure that was the cause for an increase of apc's with me..I had been slowly dehydrating myself by not drinking enough water with fiber supplimentation for many months I was in a vulnerable state increasing the potentcy of the Co Q10. I am so thankful I figured this out. Best of luck to all with your personal quests for health.

Hi All
Nice to see i'm not alone, the comon theme here seems to be lethargic doctors and the irregular palps starting in many people in there 20's.
So here i am my name is Lee i'm 45 and live in somerset in the UK.
I started getting irregular heartbeat in my early 20's but it was so rare maybe 4 -5 times a year that it was well and truly out of sight, out of mind so i never did anything about it.
Since i hit my 40's it really has made it's presence felt and the last year it's been happening every few days and sometimes 2-3 times a day as well.
I have the same symptoms as many of you here a change of pressure in the throat and chest which causes an involuntary cough then completely irregular heartbeat which can last anywhere from 5-10 secs to in my worst cases around the minute mark, very scary.
It happens at work, walking to the shops, relaxing in front of the tv, late at night in bed basically at random whenever it feel like kicking off.
I had a 3 day eletronic tape one year ago but surprise surprise it didn't happen during those 3 days, it's now 1 year later and i'm waiting for an appointment to see a heart doctor to get another 3 day tape booked up.
My Doctor seems pretty unenthusiastic but did at least reffer me to the heart doctor for the second time, though it seems to be a long fight for all of us to be heard and taken seriously with this.
If i do get the second 3 day tape done over the next few weeks i will report back with a basic update on how it went.
