I found taking calcium tablets gave me a swooshing/pounding sound in my ears but it doesn't really seem to be in time with my heart beat unless my heart is irregular! It's worse lying down and concerns me but then it suddenly goes away. I live in a very hot climate and when I'm dehydrated it's worse. Hope this helps.

I've had bad ear infections since I was a kid and treatment still doesn't help, everytime i get on antibotics for it always comes back so I just stopped getting checked for ear infections even though i know I have them , it makes my neck glands or w.e hurt too. and ~~ i always hear the heartbeat at night, so I pull my blanket a little on my pillow enough to lay my ear on it and it goes away ! hope this helps

Try pulling your blanket a bit on your pillow, and lay your head on it and if you adjust your ear the right way it will help go away

I have the same thing and also a misaligned jaw. Pulsating comes on when I’m falling asleep. It wakes me up! I always have an itchy ear hole as well. It blocks every now and again.

Only right side, the pillow magnify the pulse action by a certain position, a little head adjustment an it stops. But doesn’t happen on left carotid artery. My conclusion to that is on going pain right arm, shoulder and neck.

It could be pulsatile tinnitus, please consider a second opinion. May need a MRI to check vasculature and stop smoking because it destroys your blood vessels, etc.

I had the same problem for months after taking prescription Synthroid 50 mg per day (1 tablet per day) for Hypothyroidism for about 3 months. At that time I was also taking magnesium supplement every other day with V-D and every-day calcium supplement to help my bones. With my blood test results on hand, one day I did some research on line. Then I learned that I was not yet of a full-blown hypothyroidism but I was at the stage called "sub-clinical Hypothyroid" and the online journal reported that it was not really needed to take the prescription at that stage. So I quit taking Synthroid. About a week later I no longer heard the sound in my ear. It's been 6 months now, I never heard it again. It completely disappeared. Hope that you get rid of the annoying noise soon.

I have been having a constant feeling of my heartbeat in my head; it's a pulsing movement. Sometimes it's combined with a throbbing in my ear which sounds loud/noisy then. What do I have?
