Lately I feel like my head is so heavy, that is so hard to handle it. I can barely keep it up some days. Beside this heavy head feeling I am extremely sensitive to light, and hot, humid weather. All this makes me totally out of balance. I wonder if anyone had the same problem, and might tell me what this could be.

I have similar symptoms as you do, heavy head feeling, sensitivity and a lot of others. Few years ago my doctors thought it was labyrinthritis, but all audiological testing I performed came back as normal. My face was numb, whole head was numb and such a heavy. Also my teeth were sensitive to almost everything. The doctors tried with other diagnosis, so they diagnosed me vasomotor rhinitis, several environmental allergies… Everything looked like I have the worst case of TMJ combined with several allergies and sinus problems. Also I done MRI of the brain and auditory canals, but everything came back normal, and heavy head feeling stayed. I hope we don’t have exactly the same problem with heavy head feeling, because seems like mine is so terrible I don’t know if it will solve ever. Now I am planning to visit neurologist to check if I have some neurological problems. I would recommend you to visit as much doctors as you can and get real diagnosis, to treat your heavy head feeling right.

Hi Bunnie,

I have migraines and those sound an awful lot like they could be a type of migraine. Are you feeling any pain in your head other than the heaviness? If so, you should talk to your doctor to see if they can diagnose you and get you some medication. You shouldn't have to feel this way...

apon having the same heavy head feeling , I had blinding migranes that resulted in pain in my neck. After all kinds of treatment that included physical therapy, sterriod cream and migrane meds to treat TMJ. TMJ was surely the cause but all of those treatments were of no help. The TMJ was causing discs to slip out of place. I was sent to an orthadontist. I was fit for a retainer that prevented me from grinding my teeth at night. It worked wonders. At first I wore the retainer all the time and then reduced it to night time. You can try the over the counter mouth guards for athletes and now there is new mouth guards for grinding teeth as well. IF all else fails , try the orthadontist.

Bunnie - how are you feeling today? Were you able to fix your heavy head and sensitivity to light and hot weather? Please share as my father has exactly identical problems and it is painful to watch him suffer. Thank you very much. I hope you are better.

Hi Bunnie, I have had exactly the same problem for 10 years now and no single doctor, from phsycs, neuros, to name it all, know what is wrong with me. Did you get any help? Please let me know, maybe I could be rescued as well. Ernest

Can`t believe other people feel exactly the same symptoms `i`ve had for the last 20 years!. I`m always mildly depressed, but during the summer months due to being light sensitive it becomes a crippling depression & I find it almost impossible to lift my head & making eye contact impossibe. As such I rarely go out on hot days & have thick blinds in my room. It got so bad 1 day I went to the hospital & insisted on a brain scan which revealed I had solid bone on the back & base of my skull which prevents fluid from my brain travelling into my spine. The Dr. commented that this is very rare & as I was most likely born like this there was nothing he could do. But surely they could operate & drill a few holes as i`ve twice seriously considered suicide during summer as I can`t cope with my "Heavy head syndrome" as I call it. :-(

I am having the same heavy head feeling for more than a year now. Sometimes when I focus on it, I feel that only the right side if my neck and head is heavy and tensed. I have done MRI which was normal. Chiropractor was able to treat the neck tension but temporary, however the heavy head feeling was there 24/7. Visit to the neurologist was a waste of time as she did not do much and said everything was normal. I think its getting worse now as the weather is warming up. I have no idea what is going on. Does anyone know how to treat this ? I heard Acupuncture helps. Is this true ? I am sure my heavy head feeling is linked with my neck tension because I my neck was never tensed until my heavy head syndrome. Is there anyone in this thread who is cured or feeling better by some medication or any kind of therapy ? Thanks in advance

I have had the same symptoms. My heaviness is on my left side with ear pain, back of left eye socket pain , and slight head bobbles. .I ended up with a strange symptom...swollen tongue. GP thought I had adult thrush so he gave me 2 Diflucan ....did nothing. Then I went to a new Internist who put me on Clotrimazole 10 mg troche, an antibiotic that dissolves on the tongue (5 x a day). The head pain, pressure , and heat went away within 2 days.of taking the full 10 days of this antibiotic. This medication cured the heavy head feeling but the tongue was still swollen. So, I then took 10 days of Diflucan but the symptoms came back (within 2 days)..What I think I have is called systemic candidiasis which can settle in the brain (I looked it up on internet). I have had blood tests and will find out results next week. The only way to see if you have candida overgrowth is to do a live blood culture under a microscope. I will have my GP do this if all other blood work says nothing. GP's do not like to say anyone has candida overgrowth. Trying to get all my ailments figured out seems to push me in the direction of a holistic doctor. My insurance does not cover holistic dr appointments, so internist has to be the way to go for now. Good luck!

I know this is an old post but hope someone reading might find my reply helpful! All of you might want to know about "Chiari Malformation" and "autononmic dysfunction" (both neurological disorders) that I have & I have all the same symptoms but it took many years & many drs but ONLY one Dr. took me serious enough to help. Dr. Michael Rosner in Hendersonville, NC. Good luck!

If you have vertigo, go to a vestibular therapist and they will do a Dix Hall Pike test to see which of the three vestibular tubes contains misplaced particles. Look up the Epley maneuver on YouTube. People don't have to live with vertigo on a constant basis.
