I have been having this tight feeling in my neck/throat too exactly as everyone here has explained it. I am really freaked out. I have been know t have anxiety and worry a lot about things. There was a gas leak in my apartment for 7-10 days so I had been breathing in the gas for a long time and wondered if that the leak may have been there longer than I know of and it was causing my throat to close up. I feel almost as if I am constantly gagging. I have also have the feeling before where I had to yawn to get enough air in and when I try to yawn I can't get anough air in.

Sound's to me like the start of acid reflux. Mine began year's ago with these strange feeling's. As time has gone on they have worsened & I am now going for a ct scan today to astablish cause of acute acid reflux. The antacid medication has really helped with all symptoms, but they worsen when eating fatty or spicey food or drinkinhg alcohol. Doc think's it a gallbladder or ulcer problem. Best advise I could give would be monitor everything you eat & drink & see if there is pattern. Keep a diary daily & stay away from fat's, spices, smoking & alcohol. Good luck

I am going through very similiar symptoms only severe enough to go to ER 3x's this year - still no help until I go to see an intertinist and am told that it is vascular edema and angio edema -where there is actual swelling in those areas that are cuasing the throat and surrounding area to swell up and partially close up - they have put me on 2 antihistamine type drugs that are supposed to stop the histamine and swelling out put but nothing to remove all of the fluid already there and floating around -whereever it sewlls causes great discomfort and all I can do it lie down and ice the area- before I knew I was usuing heat which only increases it longterm - it can be from heredity(blood test can confirm) or even from aspirin use- they told me no aspirin useage at all - tylenol if you have to - from wha I have read - bed rest & cold compresses work best - I am sorry you are dealing with it too as I know it is no small ordeal and has stopped my busy happy life down to a snails pace. I hope this information may help to get you closer to a solution.

i have the same problem.i've suspected it may come from one of several things. maybe the gamma rays off the computer screen. maybe its allergys caused by the foods were being fed, theres alot of weird stuff in our foods nowadays.maybe its pet allergy from pets living indoors,i have dogs and cats .or maybe its from being overweight a tad.eating healthier seems to help me a bit.but the problem is always there slightly.

hi, sounds like it could be blood pressure... do you eat alot of dairy products? Back off of heavy fat dairy, go to skim. American dairy is causing alot of allergic reaction I think, sinus impact. Hope you are better.

wow, it's really great to see so many people sharing their own symtoms and thoughts here.

i've been having this choking, swelling kind of feel in my throat area on and off for quite some years now. in some good days, i can go through a whole day without feeling any discomfort, while others i feel it all the time. like some other people here have said about their own symtoms, mine seems to be better in the morning when i wake up and worse as the day goes on as well.

another problem with mine, which i'd like to know if anyone else share too, is that i feel the constant urge to let small amount of air out from my throat whenever i have this problem. it's not like the burps that we have after a food or carbonated drinks, but small ones that i feel i have to induce in order to make my throat feel temporarily better, but the blocked up/choking feeling goes right back after the small burps... really frustrating!

i just recently realised that it might be relating to neck problems. i've had neck problems for years, stiff and pain sometimes. i find that the throat and neck problems happen together a lot. it probably makes sense since they share the same area in our bodies. i wonder if it's that when the neck stiffs up, the throat gets 'squeeze' and therefore it affects the air flowing in the area. ...

no doctors have been able to give any reasonable explanations. human bodies are so complicated, but incompetent doctors are a dime a dozen too!

I've had the same thing for about 20 years!!!! I had my thyroid removed about 4 years ago (it was growing substernally) and things have gotten worse. I have never found a doctor (I think I have seen every specialist)who
could help. It's very daunting. I just live with it. I can't even wear turtlenecks anymore because the pressure and choking sensation are magnified so much. If you find an answer PLEASE PLEASE email me.

After reading all these post (Although I have suffered with these same symptom for more then a year now) knowing that I was not the only one out there with this issue. I have the same tight somtimes stabbing feeling in my throat and hard time catching my breath. Also I have noticed that I get eye strain as well. I have had blood pressure test and MRI, altrsound od my neck. And the Doctors seem to have no idea what the problem is. However I do differnt slightly from some of you in that I do have Hypothroidism. As well as a form of Enemia (Mediterrain). I think we all suffer from somthing familair and whats odd is that I have three Children and two of them have told me (out of the Blue) that they are having the same symptoms. I really wish I know what to do. Also as with you guys I find that drinking warm beverages does help. I wish we could all start a support group!!!

have you checked out your cervical spine? It could be an anterior derangement of the lower cervical spine. If so, contact any Mckenzie trained physio in your area.

I have the same problem. My neck feels full. Is okay in the morning, but gets worse throughout the day. I have a hard time breathing now as well. Specifically when eating. I also get burping sensations, and begin to feel a little better once I burp a bit, bit still still fill fullness. I'm trying to rule out everything. THey said all my blood test are normal. And they have completely ruled out Thyroid. I did an Antibodies test, normal, everything is coming back normal. I'm just frusturated. The only thing that has helped me is something called Noni Juice from the health food store. If you try it, get the 100% organic USDA approved, or something with no grape juice in it. But Noni in the morning and at night has helped me a great deal. I'm just tired of feeling this way. On top of this, I'm a vocalist, and my esophogas feels a mess when I sing. My tonsils are okay they even but a camera up my nasal passage to see the back of my throat and everything seemed normal. Not sure whats up. I just pray that my pain , our pain..goes away soon. Good luck to you all

I also have this same problem, ive had it for about 1 year and some months i dont get it at all, but sometimes i can have it for a full month.

It is on my left handside of my throat, where you would check for a pulse or to see if my glands are swollen. It is a kind of pressure in that area and fades on and off.

Sometimes it can be that bad feels like my head is going to pop,

I bet the thing common among you all is that you guys masturbate. I dont mean to be offensive, but if your not careful and wack-off more then 3-4 times every 3-4 months then these problems will increase. These are all cases symptomatic of dissected aortas, the severity of your case will increase with greater uses of your body effcts.

I had to read this twice. Astonishing. If you do not excercise your ejaculatory function, you will get prostrate cancer. Excercise typically means 1/2 hour 3 times a week for cardiovascular health. I would suggest that masturbating a MINIMUM of three times a week is necessary for prostrate health. I masturbate at least once per day, sometimes up to 5 times.

Hi Everyone. First of all I had a huge laugh about the masturbation comment. Too silly actually to comment further on except to say that it is truly amazing how idiotic some people can be. I have been told by doctors that not using the sexual equipment can indeed lead to prostate cancer. I don't masturbate much anymore because my new wife can't get enough sex but during the ten years I was single I did it often, maybe once a day. My prostrate is just fine and I am 59.
I have been suffering from these same throat pressure symptoms for about 6 months now. It gets better and then gets worse. My doctor gave me Aciphex for acid reflux. My stomach feels a lot better now; I haven't taken a tum for weeks but this damn tightness in my throat still persists.
I feel sometimes like I have a sinus or ear infection. I massage my saliva glands on my jaw and that sometimes gives some relief.
I was sorry to hear about but glad to read about other people's experiences with this problem. Now I don't feel so alone with this problem. Mine is usually worse in the evenings. I had a heart problem leading to angioplasty and stent implant in 1995. I take Zocor, Tramadol, Amitryptiline, Aspirin and Bisoprolol for high blood pressure. That's a lot of meds. I asked my doctor if one or more of them is causing this tightness in my throat. He said no, that it was acid reflux and gave me the Aciphex. Perhaps it just takes a long time to heal? I sympathize with the way everyone who posted here feels about such alarming symptoms. It is extremely distressing to have this choking feeling. I have wondered if I had cancer or thyroid problems, even wondered if this was the beginning of a terminal illness. No answers yet but I will be praying for all of you.
Best wishes to all,
Carl
