I have a rash like outbreak that when active, appears to be almost like small pimples with a blotchy red background that covers only around my mouth, almost gottee like. When it is inactive, I just have red blotchiness. I have had it on and off now for about two months. I was prescribed a topical antibiotic that takes the condition from active to inactive but the blotchiness is always there. I'm thinking it's a food allergy (narrowed down to nuts, chocolate or sugar) but that is strictly based on my observations - any idea of what else it could be?????

I think I have the same thing. Did you ever figure out what it is or what causes it? I'm about to pick up a prescription for Dermagel. I'll try anything. I was wondering if it was a food allergy, too...It's really awful. I tried a new soap and now it's bright red and stings and I look like that guy from Dune...Any advice?

i have the exact same thing, i've tried cold sore treatment, boroleum ointment [which provides about the same relief as carmex], and even hydrocortizone. nothing has helped it. i've had it for about a week. i think it may be an allergy, but i cant think of anything that i have eaten or used in the past 2 weeks thats new. i have NO idea what it is or what to use to cure it -- i've tried everything! any ideas, anyone?

I was so relieved to see your post! I have something that sounds similar for 2 months now. I have been hearing that skin rashes don't last that long and that I must be causing it myself, which is the farthest thing from the truth, I hate it! lt started on one corner of my mouth and then spread to the other corner and then just below my bottom lip. The topical ointment I got (mupirocin) seems to cause it to weep out serous fluid or something that washes the medicine off and stings, the antibiotics (cephalhexin) started to seem to make it fade but then it just came right back just as bad if not worse. I doubt mine is a food allergy as I've not changed anything in my diet or dermatitis as I've not switched soap, laundry detergent, moisturizer, etc....It's tangible proof of evil as far as I'm concerned and god only knows what else
