It's been a year since my surgery. After about month 8 the surgery became worth it. Currently I'm having problems with small infections in the scar tissue (some nightmares never end *grin*). Something I do want to share again. These posts have been the most helpful during my recovery. I wish I would have found you all before my surgery. I would have scared me spitless, but I would have been much more informed.
I'm finding now that even though I can feel a BM, I cannot feel how much (like I did before the surgery).
Since I continue to have a few issues I've found the most helpful toilet seat! Yes, a toilet seat.....I LIVED in the tub with hot water for a few months after my surgery. A SPA LOO toilet seat, I found online, is the next best thing and I still use it. It washes you after a BM either hot or cold water at whatever temp or pressure you like. There is also a blow dryer feature which is heaven. As a bonus the seat is heated. I won't go back to toilet paper.
Good luck to all. Stock up on your fiber, Mineral Oil, pain killers, baby wipes, tub cleaner (yes peeing in the tub is the easiest way to go), and most of all..... .....find a SPECIALIST!!! Make a list of all the recommendations and go shopping before your surgery! Keep your sense of humor!
