Scienceguy back again. I am at 22 days post op and I saw my doc last week. I do have a skin flap back there and there is some serious bulging during and after my bm. Also I am still having pain for several hours after bm. I am hoping it will subside soon. It does seem that the massive internal roids are gone. I think there is still an external one.

Drd,
its now a little over than 48 hours since I had my thd, the doctor said he lifted the rectum during the operation. Since then I had suffered a great deal of pain firstly it started like a burn then I started feeling like if there is a foreign object in anus and is about to fall out, same feeling as if I'm about to remove stool. It's like am always pushing down and I have to keep breathing in and hold it to reduce the pressure I'm feeling below.
I'm taking pain killers, tramadol and voltarin but its not causing the pain to go away, I went to my dr this morning and he said all normal and the pain will go away but he didn't explain why I'm suffering all this pain and the procedure was supposed to be painless !!
There is no blood and I was able to remove small amount of stool over the past two days but it still hurts.
Can anyone tell me why I'm feeling this way and when will is pain stop and I won't feel pushing this foreign object ?

Dr.D: I am 58 and have had three internal bandings over the past 12 years. Now I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 external prolapsed hemis, and I have found a surgeon who has done 60 THD procedures. Is that enough to be fully experienced in this procedure? Assuming all goes well, how long can I expect the results to last, and will I eventually need this again? Finally, what diet preparation pre and post-op should I prepare for the most successful results and the least amount of recovery time and problems?

Oh hello,
Your input is recent. I've been reading from 2010 and 2011. Me: female, 66. From time to time I deal with debilitating serious cramping pain in the vaginal area after a bm and especially if any straining was involved. I have a moderate prolapsed bladder and a rectocele along the posterior vaginal wall. Ok, there's the deal. Question, are you familiar with issues involving the pudendal nerve? My doctor tells me it is responsible for the cramping pain. I'm wondering this: if I were to have the THD you speak of is there any chance that the Pudendal nerve would be irritated, compromised etc? Asking this since you are a surgeon. I eat a diligently gentle fibre diet to avoid the pain and wouldn't want to have any damage done that would make things any more unbearable. Thanks then, Daphne11

I had THD done in January 2013 (this year if your reading in 2013). My hemorrhoids are back, today is March 24th, 2013. This procedure did NOT work for me. It was painful and I almost died from the complications. To anyone readying this you can find my subject post under "How much does THD cost?" In it I give a description about what I went through from post-op day 1 through week one and then after I was released from the hospital for massive bleeding.
Rubberband ligation did NOT work for me.
THD did NOT work for me.
The only thing left is the traditional slice procedure. I'm going to have to suffer for another year with hemorrhoids and using creams before I build up enough strength (emotional, mental, physical) to get the traditional procedure.
I post my name as Anon and the subject is about the Cost of the procedure.
I will check back for any reply's periodically. My purpose in posting here is to interview anyone who has had the traditional hemorrhoid proceedure done. I'm worried about the complications of that procedure and if it actually works.

Two years ago I endured the after-effects of a classic hemmorhoidectomy. Pain for weeks was awful. Now, have itching, blood, soiled shorts so saw a surgeon last wee and he told me I had a prolapse and recommended a THD. I found him by typing a search for "painless pile surgery". After talking and a follow-up examination (Anoscope) he recommended the THD. However, remembering the pain from the last surgery, the last thing I want to do is let anyone near my butt with a knife. He said, I would not have much pain and he thought I would be able to tolerate it well.
So, my question is I have a low pain threshold and compared to the pain I suffered with the last go, how much less pain will I experience?

I had the THD procedure done 5 weeks ago. I had both internal and external hemorrhoids. I went to see my Dr today. I told him that I was not pleased with the fact that there are still external hemorrhoids. He said that he was not very pleased either, yet he called them skin tags. He said that he would continue to shrink. And to return in two months. I am very dissatisfied. Firstly, because it took a lot for me to get up the gumption to show these to someone. Secondly, they (the hemorrhoids) are not gone! And lastly, why am I paying for this, if the Dr said he did a bad job!! What should I do? Second opion? Call my insurance company? Just have the tags removed? HELP!!I just want them gone!

I have skin tags as well. Two years ago I had a full blown hemorrhoidectomy and my new doctor wants to do a THD. He says I have internal hemorrhoids plus a prolapse. He feels the THD will stop the pain and pressure.
What kind of pain did you have with the THD? The surgeon says no guarantees, but generally the pain with the THD is substantially less than other hemorrhoid removal procedures. Did you feel much pain?

I made two posts earlier. I had THD on Feb 5, I believe. Dr. Eufrocino Martizez was the surgeon. My first post was about 2 weeks after surgery, and I was still in bad pain. Now, over 2 months afterwards, I am very happy. I do have two skin tags, and also my anus bulges during bowel movements, but no pain or blood... it's wonderful. THD truly gave me my life back.

I had THD America method about 21/2 weeks ago I also had external hemmroids removed. Iam still swollen and am in pain. externally. I'm sure the THD method made it easier on me internally but the outer area is still raw and swollen. I feel like I have to go to potty(BM) several times during the day but only have a tiny BM. I do push slightly when I go. Why shouldn't I have a sitz bath? Also the very centure of my buttocks hurts terribly after standing for a long time. I'm a flight attendant. I went back to work exactly 2 weeks after surgery and have to take one pain tablet at night in order to sleep.Could you please give me advise I didn't think my outer area would hurt so much after 2 weeks. Thanks

This is Kathryn again, I also have a bulging anus after a BM but the swelling goes down after awhile. Why is that?

Thanks for the description.
I had this procedure December last year, which went very well, but they said at the time 'there was a lot there' and that I should come back in 3 months. Because of work I've only now had time to go back. Because of an anal fissure and perhaps other things the recovery has been much more painful this time. Also, a protrusion is developing and some stitches are now half 'hanging out'. Has this happened to anyone else? Can the stitches come 'undone' and is that really bad?

I just had this THD surgery on 01/08/2014. I felt good right after and the next day. I am 4 days out and have had to be on a steady dose of Percocet to control the pain and sometimes it is so excruciating I just want to die. The doctor told me I would hate him for four days, so I'm hoping this will end by the end of today. I don't hate the doctor but I'm not sure I did the right thing yet. I 've done everything I was told to do, drink water, take laxatives, sitz baths and rest. So I'm trying to be patient, but so far this is NOT a painless or minor pain type procedure. I ve had more pain with this than with my hysterectomy and that was a major surgery!
