I've been dealing with hemorrhoids for many years. Last November I had a bad flare up and suffered daily with pain. I had seen surgeons in the past who performed banding but wouldn't do hemorroidectomy on one that was just inside. After this last flare up I saw a surgeon who would operate. That was 3 months ago. My problem is the surgery isn't for another month and things have settled down and now I'm debating daily whether to proceed with surgery. I know another flare up is inevitable but is the pain of surgery worth it. I wish I knew what to do. I'm so scared of the pain post op but scared of not going through with surgery when I have the chance.

Funny but that's not the subject line I wrote. Stop changing what people write.

Since no one, but you, is experiencing what you are, no one can can tell you what you should do.

What I can do is tell you my own history. Had hemorrhoid issues for years, but they were, IMO, manageable. A few years ago the symptoms escalated and one Dr. in Fort Lauderdale suggested THD...the symptoms then subsided and I, again, thought that I could manage them and delayed having the surgery. When they escalated again, they really escalated, it was a nightmare and I feared that they were so bad that THD was no longer an option. Luckily, for me, the surgeon believed that the THD procedure was still viable, although less so, and was willing to do it. I agreed, and it was extremely successful, so much so that I am still (six months later) amazed and thankful that I didn't have to go through the traditional surgery.

Maybe your issues will remain manageable, maybe they won't, only time can tell.
