i have a small hole. no pus. not red. no pain, but my kids take a pin and dig a worm looking object out. it seems to be getting deeper. ive had it years now. what could it be? a little longer than a needlehead

It could be a parasitic infection. Without seeing it we can't tell.
I would suggest you see your doctor. It is not healthy to have a "small hole" in your skin for years.
