My nephew is a big part of my life. You are so lucky like royal straight flush in three card stud lucky!!! If your addiction got stronger,if you fed it more, if you didn't kick its ass you would have destroyed all that if you managed to stay alive. Most people lose everything before they get out. We are both lucky. I'm going to check that you tube video.I love Xfactor.

My husband is addicted to Loratabs. I have been with him for 8 years and for the first time in 8 years, our relationship is really rocky because of this addiction. He started taking Tabs close to 4 years ago. Last year he went to see a opiate withdrawal doctor and he was getting suboxone. Well it was no tabs, just subs, for awhile. Then he stopped going to the doctor because we could make the payments and he lost his insurance, also because he works M-F 730-530 and has no time and cant take off to go to his appointments. Anyways, he is has come to the realization that he cant continue to spend our last dollar on them when he feels like sh*t, our 18 month old son needs things and he is taking them away from him because his addiction needs juice. We are so very behind on all our bills, we cant buy groceries, we have nothing; thats not just because tabs, also because our place of employments is slow, in turn we arent making as much money, but they are a huge setback. So with that being said, how can I help him quit, at home with little money, where he can be functional at work being a technician. He gets the achey body, muscle spasams, irritablility, emotional, terrible diarrhea, constantly running to the bathroom, headache, cold chill, no energy, FLU like symptoms, caught, fever, sore throat. PLEASE help me. He is coming home from work so we can figure out a solution to end this hell we are living in. If you need any other information I will be constantly checking this thread.

Hi Guest1234,
He is going to be sick, no way around it, there is no easy way out from withdrawals. BUT, Kratom can help him quit and it will be a lot less painful than trying to just tough it out.
Best advice I can give you is what worked for me. Start planning now and aim for next week. It is a little late this week, but if he can start tapering his dosages now (target would be to get down to ½-1/4 of his daily dosage by Thursday, last dose on Thursday). you can order some Kratom powder(Meng Da or Borneo Green) now, so you will have it ready. (if he cannot taper, order it now) I would suggest to plan for the worst of the WD’s to start by Thursday-Friday and go thru to Sunday-Monday, this way he will have the weekend to get thru a lot of the bad parts. However, he can be sick for awhile, tell work he has the flu (if you have a doctor you trust, let them know he is trying to quit, there are meds they can do to help, relatively cheap). Some people are sick for a couple of weeks or more.
Fruits, juices, Multi-vitamins, ANYTHING to help him sleep. Music books, magazines movies, etc to help keep his mind occupied.
When the cravings really hit on Thursday, start the Kratom (if it is just powdered leaf, 1-2 teaspoons every 5-6 hours is what worked for me, it may be less or more for him, if it is an “enhanced kind” then start off less and increase until he feels the WD’s ease). HE NEEDS TO BE OFF THE PILLS BEFORE HE STARTS THE KRATOM! Wait until the full WD’s start. Use Kratom to beat the addiction, not as a replacement for the pills!
He can also go into depression, keep an eye out for this, this is one of the hardest parts of quitting, mine lasted for several weeks, and I STILL have bad days eveynow and then (has been 5-6 months since I quit)
There are 1000’s of people who have used this plant to quit drugs, search the internet and you will find lots of accounts and testimonials. Several of us monitor this thread, and are willing to help as much as we can. Read this whole thread, it is long but there is great advice in here.
Hang in there, and be there for him! I could not have done it without my wife!

Time to give an update on my taper experiences as I go through them. I posted twice about my taper off of Oxy and Hydro.

Boy this is not fun! When you talk about pain and anguish of withdrawals, I now know all about it. I have been working hard to get completely clean. First I threw out my hydro and tried to taper of Oxy alone. this proved just too painful and I had to backslide into using Hydro again to help get off Oxy. Hint "Never get addicted to two opiates at once!"

Anyways, the hydro helps a little and I have been off of Oxy 100% for seven days now! The withdrawals from tapering were severe , it was like when I got to zero my body just revolted! So 7 days without it and after one backslide into withdrawals 5 days in, my body now is slowly recovering. Sleep is hard, but last night I did not wake up soaked in sweat as before. I feel better, but it is very gradual. Over two years of Oxy use has made the body so used to it. But I have been able to resume fairly normal workouts after some Advil and coffee. A good physical workout is so important to body and mind. Hard but helpful

So, now I taper the hydro slowly. Yesterday I used two 10mg tablets. Today will be 1 1/2. Then 1, then 1/2. then zero.  Really, once you are under two 10mg Hydro you are hardly even noticing you are on an opiate. Hydro also is so much less painful to get off if you are under 20mg a day. So I feel pretty secure that I am almost there. The good thing is that these withdrawals were so bad, I am a conditioned animal now, I don't ever want to feel that again. Even though I still have a big stash of Oxy in the house, I don't even want to look at it! Proof that this is working.

Depression is still a problem and the body pain is still around. Never get into using for years on end, the body needs SO long to get over it! But this morning I feel like a nearly normal person. Tapering is weeks of hell, I wonder if going cold turkey isn't best. People suffer terribly, but after 4 - 5 days they say they feel a lot better. Tapering has had me in awful withdrawal pain for two weeks. It makes me wonder what cold turkey feels like, must be hell on earth!

I will post again when this is all over.

Guest 1234, Sorry to hear about that. How much Hydrocodone [lortab] is he taking everyday? That is key to how hard it will be to get off it. Tapering Hydro is fairly easy. I did it several times before getting the terrible Oxy habit I wrote about above.

Hydro is so much easier to kick. How much does he take?  Go down slowly a little bit each day, it is not easy, but it can be done without terrible withdrawals, though when it hits zero you do have a bad day or two. Trouble is that this takes time and money to keep supplied with it as he tapers down to zero.

If his dose is really high then it will take longer. But don't worry too much, I swear Hydro is easy to taper if you go slow. Not like Oxy or other strong opiates. Just lower the dose a bit on those brings terrible withdrawals.

If he takes five 10mg a day, just drop it to 4 for a couple days and then 3 for a few days, go slow! It works. I did it fairly easily several times.

Thanks Purrrpill, I could mention irritability as a consequence of withdrawals. Today I flew into a rage half a dozen times over the littlest things.  Also, eating isn't easy, really not much desire for food, you have to force some down. Fruit is good, lots water and soda. Root Beer tastes good and sweet!  This stuff made my life a disaster for two and a half years! I suspect it will be several months before my body feels normal. The longer you take that junk the more it becomes your body's normal way to be.

I'll update again in awhile.
