I moved away from home to attend a college many miles away. So far that going home for a weekend or a few days is impossible. The first week or so I was fine. I went to classes and studied with no problem. But now, about three weeks later, I have become very depressed. I don’t want to leave my room or go to class or study. I can’t sleep and have lost my appetite. I know I need to stay at school and do well but it is becoming very difficult just to get out of bed in the morning. I’m very shy and haven’t made any friends. Furthermore I don’t drink or smoke which makes me awkward at parties. I feel so alone and don’t know what to do. Does anyone have any advice?

One way to fight home sickness is to have someone to talk with.
Have friends in your school. Not smoking nor drinking doesn't mean they will not like you to be their friends.

I think that this is pretty good advice. Have you been in a situation like this before? I was pretty lonely when I first moved to a new city and I was feeling pretty down on myself. I started going out more and getting confidence when I did. Does anyone else have any experience like this? Franciz, do you still post? Do you have any other tips?
