Hi all my name is Danielle and I'm a 20 year old female who, like all of you has been on the depo shot. I just got my first shot a month ago and was enjoying no periods and no other significant side affects until i started to notice i had started to A. gain weight or B. retain alot of water. It is most noticeable in my lower stomach and breasts. I have always always ALWAYS had a quick metabolism as constantly noted by my doctor and was the type of person who could eat anything without worrying about gaining weight. I am 5'6" and before I started the shot I weighed a healthy 118-120 lbs. However in a little over a month since I had the shot I noticed the weight gain/water retention and I also noticed a lack of energy which is very unlike me because I have always been energetic and like to work out. I knew something was up because not only was I working out like before but i was also working out more than I ever had because I had started a hardcore home work out system that kicks my butt everyday. Wondering what could possible be wrong with me, i begin asking questions and stumbled upon this site where many many of you said that the shot has screwed with you metabolism and caused other adverse effects. I was shocked and scared and still am. The only thing I can attribute the weight gain to is the fact that the depo shot makes me hungry ALL the time. Just like all of you i didn't think my eating habits had changed very much but my boyfriend who lives with me told me he had noticed a significant change and that i still ate around the same times I always had but I tended to eat much larger portions than before. I didn't notice this at all until he pointed it out so maybe that could help some of you ladies because like i said i never would have even NOTICED unless my significant other pointed it out. However my big question is: Do you guys think that one shot could possibly make me gain more weight than I already have and potentially ruin my metabolism for good? I will not get the depo shot ever again due to all of this but please tell me if just one shot has the potential to ruin my body for good....I am so scared after reading all the other horror stories on here....Any advice is appreciated greatly...THanks,
