I have been on Cymbalta for 7 years and am ready to quit. At one time I was taking 60MG along with 100MG of Pristiq. Got off the Pristiq last year and dropped down to 30MG of Cymbalta daily. My primary reason for quitting is the resulting sexual dysfunction common with so many AD meds. One night I tried taking a natural libido enhancer containing the herb Yohhimbine. My heart rate went into overdrive, I had nausea, tremors and excessive salivation....I thought I was going to have to visit the ER. Only now have I learned that this particular herb does not interact well with SSRI's and MAOI's (Cymbalta being the former). In fact, the interaction effects listed on Web MD are exactly what I experienced.

Not that my Cymbalta experience has been all bad. It has done an effective job of controlling my mood swings, although the result is kind of a blase outlook on life. I've come to the conclusion that I would rather experience the natural highs and lows of life than be stuck somewhere in the middle. Needless to say, I am also ready (okay, more than ready) to get my sex life back. My wife is a saint who thankfully been very patient in this department, but I think I owe it to both of us to at least make the effort and see what happens.

Terrible drug! Was on Duloxitine for 1month, severe reaction, tried to go " cold turkey ", caught in a trap. Really having trouble handling side effects. No easy way to remove from system. Just Don't Start! E

Thank you for answering my question. The withdrawals are extremely difficult. I find that I'm so extremely dizzy, can't sleep and my mood swings are horrible. I've managed to wean off and start something new. Praying for some peace. I feel like I'm almost dying.

Hi i took duloxetine for the first time for one day. My Doctor prescribed it for me but after one day of taking it I stopped because of the side effects was too much to bare. He started me of with 90mg. Its been two days since and the side effects has simmer down but i still have dizziness; headaches, etc. How long will these side effects last since i only took them for a day ?

I started it a couple weeks ago. I only took it for 5 days because it made me so sick, diarrhea, nausea, urinary retention where I couldn't pee. I also have Fibromyalgia and probably MS too

I am sorry to hear about the problems you had. Best to work through a doctor to balance medication. If you are not happy with results, find a different doctor. The first few days on/ off cymbalta can be strange. With a 12 hr half-life you system should be pretty well clean of it in 17-20 days. I hope since your post was a year ago you have been able to find the right medication. Cymbalta can cause suicidal thought, so always have friends keep an eye on you whenever you change medication that affects the brain like it does. Hope you are doing well.

I can't say anything bad about Cynbalta. I started taking it in my late 40's because I have always had tears on the edge and I never remember a time in by life I didn't. My boss who is a Nurse Practitioner suggested Cymbalta because I was moving into perimenepause and feeling anxiety at times. Nursing can be stressful. The recommended dose was 60mg. Being a nurse and acting in true nurse form I found 30mg kept the tears away, and bonus helped my knee that had endured four surgeries. Cymbalta has been there faithful for all these years. Now at 56 I decided to try and get off the Cybalta hoping i would feel normal. Nope, I FEEL everything and cannot tell a simple story without tears. Why? (My mom was diagnosed with MS when I was 7. It was very aggressive. My childhood was stable financially but traumatic, especially for a tender hearted fourth born) I need a bone!
