I could be wrong but I don't think Tramadol is an opiate. This is heresay but I heard it's an antidepressant. I also heard if you take opiates while taking Tramadol you go into immediate withdrawal. I've been on Methadone since 1999. This year was my 5th attempt at cold turkey. I felt like dying. I ended up going down from 120 mg. to 70 mg. I've had both my hips replaced and now I need my back fused. I'm going to put the surgery off as long as possible. My bladder and rectum have prolapse. More good news. I don't even tell the docs how bad my knees crack and everything hurts. Each day I'm glad to be alive, but I don't even consider going off. Two of my closest friends have done it. When I read how people have gotten off of Methadone I feel like the bigger loser on the face of the earth. Thank you for the advice. May you all be as happy as possible and do what feels right for you. If anyone is religious read the book of Job.
