Hi everyone

I got Mary Winsor Pilates set of dvds for my birthday. I love it. It is my favorite pilates program and most definitely my favorite instructor. I love Mary.

Now, since this is the first time in my life that I actually enjoy doing exercises ( I am usually too lazy and I must force myself into doing them) I would like to know how many times per week I need to do these exercises? I would like the exercises to have the maximum effect, but I don’t know how often should I exercise for the results to be great. Where can I find this information? Does anybody know?

Well it all depends.

This girl I know has been doing pilates exercises for about 5 years now. She loves it, she is really fit and she is in a good shape. Recently she started with Mary Winsor Pilates. Her weekly dosage is twelve times a week. Can you imagine? She does these exercises twice a day except Monday and Friday (once daily).

For me(and lately I’m very lazy, I’m out of shape), the ideal would be three times a week, at least for a month or two, until my body gets used to all those activities.

If you practice a lot you can exercise more often. It’s all up to you. You should let your muscles decide.

Twelve times a week?? Oh my God. I do love pilates, but twelve times a week would be a nightmare for me.

I’m also not in a good shape. I've recently started with the Mary Winsor Pilates, I've done the exercises just a couple of times and my muscles are already in much pain. After the last series of exercises I slept over at my friend’s house. The next day she had to drive me home even though I live 3 minutes away from there, because my muscles were killing me.

But that is I believe normal, I wasn't active for so long. Maybe I should try doing it 3 times a week. It sounds doable.
