Hello, my daughter is 7 years old and ever since she was young she had problems with tonsilles. And even the third tonsille grew up. As far as I understood the doctor it is quite common because of the infections. He recommended tonsillectomy and I would like to know how safe is that procedure?
That is one of the safest procedures. The risk level is lowest and it brings a lot of benefits because it removes the source of infections (tonsilles). After the procedure, the regenerative period is quite fast and she will feel good after only couple of days. The risk of complications is very low.

Hello there.

This is very safe procedure and you shouldn’t be afraid of it and your daughter is going to feel a lot better after it is done. All these infections she is experiencing right now are going to be gone and no more pain and sore throat. If your doctor is suggesting this as a best solution than it is my opinion you should listen to him. Anyhow, the whole procedure is painless because she will be given a local anesthetic. There will be some difficulties after the procedure during the next few days but other than that everything else is very positive.

Risk of complications is very low so you don’t have to worry about that and I believe that your doctor is more than capable.

Why do some children put on a lot of weight a few years after tonsils and adenoids surgery? Why do sinus infections mean you should have a tonsillectomy? What is the best and safest procedure for a tonsillectomy?
