I have been taking enough OxyContin to kill an elephant for at least 10 years because I have RSD- I decided (stupidly) that I needed to get off this stuff- I am in bad shape- any suggestions?? Should I try the NyQuil or is Benadryl better? I keep reading different stories- some no & some yes! I thought the best bet was to try & sleep as much as possible?? It seems to me that nobody here sleeps at all because of the withdrawal?? For some stupid reason I thought I might feel better after day 5? After reading your stories I am terrified. Please let me know what you think.

i be been on opiates for ten years now but this is my third stint!!!!! it took a really great person and friend to help me turn my life around. I know how being an addict can affect your entire life! I've been one for most of my adult life and I'm 34 years old! I am 17 days clean today, and that's the longest I've been clean for a really long time!!! it was unbearable the first three days and I went cold turkey! it wasn't my decision but now I can finally see it had to happen. I wish I could talk to someone who's been there and knows what its like to go through it. any addict knows that you just can't know what its like till you've been through it!!! can I get an amen!!!

I never do write, but I have been in close to your shoes! Off and on I have taking opiates probably more on. The accident was discovering the modafinil stops the hell that is w/d from opiates. I'm not sure how it works but it does. The reason I I'm on it is to counteract the effects of my seizure meds and just did it a couple days ago. I forgot I took the 1 provigil and took another. Well the rest of the day I was not craving hydrocodeine at all. And I take 5 6 7 a day. No more. See if ya can get your dr to prescribe it in generic for its like 55 dollars as opposed to 2100 for the brand!

Bad advice and dated. You can't stop opiate withdrawal with chocolate Willy Wonka

Methadone will just replace the problem imo. The withdrawals from that are just as bad as heroin detox if not worse. I'm still trying to find the right answer to just get away. I wish you the best of luck, but what your husband is experiencing is grin the withdrawal/addiction/dependency

I have been looking for a "mind over matter" post on opiate withdrawa because Im on the front end of it RIGHT NOW and although I have been thru this before I cannot go thru a week long ordeal. Nope. How did Steven Tyler perform on nights when like he says was "dope sick?" I cannot go thru the whole ordeal. Has to be a "mind ove matter" factor. Someone PLEASE HELP.

I have been on oxycodone and hydromorphone for years. Trying to get clean I have found amazing helpful combination. Lopemide. I started at 12 pills first 2-3 days, lowered to 6 a day for 2-3, then 3, and you should have minor - tolerable stomach discomfort after that. It not only help with stomach spasms, diarrhea, nausea, jitters. It's a lifesaver. I also was prescribed some xanax and smoked some green if you can get it. For me this combo allowed me to function normally. Really only leaving me with extreme fatigue. By the end of a week I could stop it all, and have very minor paws. Hope this helps. I'm at the end of day 7 this round. Feeling great!

I just stumbled on your advice for withdrawals and really want you to know that you are correct on the point you made about catching a cold there is something to that -- you're 100% correct.

Don't know if you're aware of it but suboxin you have to be in full withdrawal to take it first of all or you'll go and further withdrawal will be worse than what you feel like right now and once you're on Suboxone it blocks all opiates so if you have surgery or if you have temp to take any pain medicine it'll make you going full withdrawal immediately and you will get so sick sicker than you've ever been I would say if you're through it right now go through it but my suggestion you if you have chronic pain I have horrible chronic pain and I've tried to stop the long as I went was a year and now I am sicker than sick right now on methadone a tapered from 1:30 down to 34 and then they made me go down five milligrams a week even though I've been clean because of their rules and I'm sick so I switch clinics and now I'm at 40 and I'm going to have to tape your back up to 55 and then start tapering slowly again so I don't get sick I also take oxycodone 20 to 60 mg a day it does help the pain because methadone does not help pain I want off methadone I don't want to be in anything can't take Ibuprofen I would never take an event in rotten now that medicine has to be tested for that will be hard to get off of if you start that I wouldn't have eyes that either for pain for nerve pain awful awful stuff my suggestion to you is if you don't think you'll ever have to use anything for pain again tough it out if you have support if you think that you're always going to need something for pain here and there I would say just get on the low dose of meds go to a pain clinic see what they can do good luck to you I truly mean it and be thankful you have someone to help if you do cuz I don't and it sucks

Bs. I has a 500 a day oxy habit for 6 years. I'd shoot anything in my arm to get right and not deal with wd. But there were those times I was out of luck. Been on zubsolv or suboxone 4 years now and decided to taper off . This is day 4 of no zubsolv and I haven't gotten out of bed. It's getting worse and I have a high position at work and idk how im going to function. When will this end?
