I had an operation to loosen up my foreskin and another to make my frenulum longer (it seems like they just cut it off completely though, as I can't see any band of skin anymore) that was last October.
Even now there seems to be a lot of puffiness and swelling in the tip of my foreskin, so that when I retract (which I can do fine now) the inner foreskin seems to be revealed and forms a kind of 'band' as it retracts. When I pull my foreskin all the way back, the said band forms a kind of swollen ring behind the head of my penis. It's not tight, the skin itself is quite stretchy, but aside from looking rather ugly, I suddenly wondered with panic whether I would be able to get a condom on alright. So I bought some condoms just to test it out. My fears are confirmed... earlier on I tried putting one on and I will describe what happens -
I start rolling it down and it goes all the way down the head, but as soon as it reaches the crown or rim or whatever you call it (just the bottom of my penis head) it kind of 'lodges' between the underside of my penis and that puffy band of skin, and it's difficult to really grip it enough to pull it further down my penis. Even if I could grip it, because the condom is obviously meant to be tight, it seems very tough to get it over that band of skin. Even if it did work, I worry that the condom wouldn't work properly as it might get air in it or something.
Sorry if that sounded vague, it is really hard to describe what it looks like. I think it is 'oedema' and the skin is very puffy, and a little reddish (darker purple bits in some areas) I guess the only thing I can do is try to sort this swelling out. I already got prescribed some cortisteroid from my consultant but it hasn't made a difference. The swelling seems a tiny bit better than after my operation but this is obviously a great many months past now, surely it should all have healed up completely by now!? :-(
Would really appreciate any advice or reassurance :( I already suffered from phimosis for many years, finally got it sorted out and now this! I am suitably cheesed off. eh
Oh btw I'm 17 years old.

Hi Matt,
Funny you should ask, my son asked me that same question a few years back.
It's been a long time since I used a condom but I do remember getting very frustrated with them. Even once you get it on I found it would tend to bunch up and make things "uncomfortable."
All I can suggest is making sure to pull back all the way before putting it on. Try different brands too, some may work better tan others.
Hopefully someone else will have a better idea.

Dan thanks! Good to hear from you, I always pull all the way back before I put it on, I'm not sure I've described my problem very well... it's really the swelling in my foreskin I need to reduce, do you know how I can do this? The skin is very swollen and puffy. The condom refuses to roll back over it, even when the foreskin is fully retracted!

I would think the swelling should have gone down by now from the procedure. It might just that normal erections are causing enough irritation to sustain the current swelling.
Try giving it a rest for a few days and see how the swelling is? If it continues, you might want to see your doctor - I know.

It's nothing to do with erections or irritation... the skin is not actually irritated, just swollen and puffy... it looks the same whether it is erect or flaccid. Think I'll have to see my doctor again!
