I first experienced itchy swollen hands when I was 23, pregnant and out shopping. I am now 68 and have had this problem since then. My hands swell when I am on my feet for any length of time; walking the dog, shopping, etc but not always. The time of year or weather makes no difference. Running cold water over my wrists and hands is ineffective. If I sit down, after an hour or so my hands return to their normal size and the itching stops. Seems too insignificant a problem to visit the doctor but it's a nuisance - especially when trying to remove rings.

Hello , it really seems like a problem if your hands are swelling on daily basis. My sister had similar problem but not as long as you have. It turned out to be allergies that made her hands swell. I also read about swollen hands and basically they say that swollen hands could represent a serious underlying problem in your body. You might consider checking with the doctor. On the other hand, arthritis could cause your hands to swell, especially when you get up because that's the state when there is the most pressure on your hands.

My hands don't swell when I'm lying or sitting. They don't swell if the weather is hot or cold and they don't swell every day. I can't relate it happening because of allergies (I don't have any) or food or drink. It's just always been a mystery.
