I get my period every 3-4 months and it's been like that for about 6 years. However, my period only lasts about 4-6 days. Never been on the pill either.

I'm pretty sure you can get pregnant.

A Discussion: Hi this is about my friend.. well iam concerned that she has her periods once in 4 months and it continues for 14 to 16 days. But when the doctor was consulted, she was informed that it would be normal once she gets into a regular physical intimacy just as in marriage.

I did not understand this. Anyways... just wanted to know is there any natural remedy to control this and regularize this. Its so difficult to see her in this intense pain... :( Please help!!

I am 19 years old and i have the same problem. My periods last 6-9 days every 3 months. At first i was very worried and went to see my doctor. Like every1 else's doctors she told me it was normal. But i am still worried that in futur i may not be able to have children. BUT what i found out that no1 else talked about is that there is also 1 more thing that could effect it. It's our weight. I weight only 102 which in my opinion is not very healthy. The doctor said that could also be the problem. I am trying now to gain a few pounds and see what happends :-D

P.S.hope that helped a little!

For most situations, this is quite normal. I had a friend who had her period every 4 months. Part way through high school, she started having pains in the lower abdomen which turned out to be sists (or however you spell it), and an operation solved it. The sists were unrelated to her cycle patterns.

I have mine every month. It skips a couple weeks when ever high stress amounts occur. But honestly, with the cramping, headaches, and moods that come with periods, I don't get whey anyone would want to regulate their period to have it every month...

By the way, my friend got pregnant quite easily early into their marriage, and have a beautiful baby girl.

All the best to you all!

I'm 25 now with two kids. A 7 year old boy and 4 year old girl. So it is possible to get pregnant. I was a late bloomer I got my first period at 14 and ever since then I've had my period every 3-5 months. It lasts for 3 days (normal flow) and then it leaves only to return in another 3-5 months. All my doctor said was to enjoy and to use protection when I don't want to be pregnant.

I asked my doctor and mentor (I'm currently in nursing school)

- One possible scenario is that your uterus takes 2 months to produce the endometrium layer because of this your body takes longer to release an egg. So this would account for the long periods. Your cycle is normal it's just slower. So keeping up with your ovulation schedule will help with pregnancy. If you want your cycle every month (not sure why you would) I would talk with your doctor about taking birthcontrol pills which have been known to help with regulating cycles.

Good luck

I have the same problem as both of you ladies, but it is very difficult to conceive with this condition. My husband and I have been trying for a year and with no success. This will drive you mad and make you angry if you dont know why your body has chosen this menstration cycle. See a doctor and do what you can to get regular.

I have the same problem! I get my period every 3 months or so and it lasts about 1 1/2-2 weeks. I went to the gyno and had a POS test and everything came back find, the only thing they told me was that my left ovary was a bit slow in producing the hormones but worked just fine. All the doctors I've been to have told me its normal (after I was tested for everything!) and that I'm just one of the "lucky ones". The only thing my gyno told me was that I may have a little bit of a problem concieving right away but that i woul dbe able to.
