This may be too late but I've had the spotting for a while and got pregnant. I got an ovulation prediction test and realized I was ovulating a week different than normal so I was finally able to get pregnant! I have a 15 month old now. :)

Very similar story as all of you. I spot for 4-6 days before my actual period. The first day of spotting is a little heavier, then light until my actual period. It's been happening for thirteen years- since my son was born. My husband had a vasectomy shortly after he was born, so if it's caused fertility issues I don't know about them. I've mentioned it to a couple drs, but they didn't seem too concerned so I've never tried to treat it. Though- from the sound of it, it wouldn't help anyway.
I know this is an ancient thread and may never get answered, but I wondered about any other symptoms we might share. My breast get incredibly sore before my period, and that never happened before. I have a few symptoms of mild pcos but have never been diagnosed- some chin hair, stubborn weight, and some food intolerance- eggs especially.
Thank you for all of your stories. It is nice to know that I'm not crazy or alone. And it's interesting that for several of us, it started after having boys. (Though obviously not all of us)

Just curious if u ladies ever figured out what was wrong? What about endometriosis? No scan or test can see it so you would need a laparoscopy to find out. That's what causes my spotting.

You have very similar issues that I have I'm a Little over weight for my height. every month before my period starts I bleed for a long period of time anywhere between 7 days and 15 days the only difference is coloring. My color usually starts off as this light red almost pinkish color and light colored spotting until my period starts I also have a history of blood clotting and cannot take blood control pills except depo. Hey ladies,
I just went to my doctor for this and she did an exam. It's NOT my lining but my actual. Cervix bleeds. She touched it with a cotton swab and it started bleeding.
It's called cervical erosion or Ectropion. It just means that the blood vessels are closer to the surface and bleed. But she assured me that it doesn't effect anything north of my cervix.
I am going to an acupuncturist/eastern medicine person because I don't think it's completely normal but this is what I know so far.

Did anything come from your appointment?? This is me. I had it before getting pregnant, miscarried, and am now back at square one, but my spotting is 4-5 days before my period now as opposed to 7 days, with occasional red after bowel movements (yeah, gross! bearing down maybe?) Anyways, was curious what you found.

Hello all.
I am so happy to see something like this and know that I am not the only one going though this. I stopped taking birth control, I had been on it for about 10 yrs (varying kinds over that period) and I came off it because me and my fiance were planning on having kids. Ever since I came off birth control over a year ago now, I have bled every month before my period like clock work 4-5 days before my period, and then I get my period for 5 days.
I have gotten ultrasounds done, swabs taken. Tests done endlessly, my ultrasound showed that I may have had PCOS, so they wanted me to go for blood work, so I went for the blood work, and they said everything came back normal. The Gyno I went and got my swabs done from said it is normal in some women (which I personally don't know how this is normal when it never used to happen). My doctor said if I wanted to "fix" it I could go back on birth control, and well I don't want to go on it for obvious reasons.
We also have not gotten pregnant since I have come off birth control (15 months now) and I am wondering if it is because there is more of an underlying issue.
I feel like my doctor is not too concerned about it, and should be a little bit more.
So I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, if I should be more persistent in finding out if something is wrong, or just accept this as my new normal now.
If anyone has had any resolution to their issue, or just know if I should really be more persistent in my persual, please let me know!
