Well, this has been an interesting thread to me and I haven't even started it.
I have been trying to get the miles in, per week, and starting to get more consistent on that front. Last week, the first week of marathon training for the fall, I hit 30 miles. The schedule I am planning on following will go into 40 MPW and peak about 45 MPW.
But my running is so slow. I have been running, for the main part, on the neighborhood where I live. Which contains hills. And up and downs. And that's fine with me, I have just incorporated hill runs as part of any normal run out my front door. But I have not noticed a big difference in me running the 4 miles 'around the block' here with a 1/2 mile hill and 4 miles in the park which is flat.
I guess my question is, when do I ever get quicker? I mean, I will notice my 4 mile run tomorrow will seem much easier than the 7 miler I did today. But with the heat, humidity, and early mornings, I am not running any faster than 1 year ago.
