Yes, taking Marinol will definitely give you a positive piss test for THC. I have been taking prescription Marinol for about a yr now and have to " Random" test at least twice a month. I stopped smoking months before the testing started and still tested positive. The effects of the Marinol are next to nothing after the first dose ( laughed my ass off the first time tho).
My question is the flip side,,,, Now that I have a legal and accepted reason for THC to be in my urine, will they be able to tell the difference if I begin to smoke pot again? Tempted to try it but can't take the risk, sure miss a good ole pot buzz !! Anyone know the answer?
The answer to this question is YES... I just spoke to my pain management doc yesterday who wants to put me
on marinol. The good news is I can smoke and unless they run more expensive tests, they wont be able to tell
the difference. The only thing is MJ produces different cannabinoids w each different strain you smoke. The marinol had only one. so if they looked really closely in a lab, they COULD differentiate. Very expensive tests that would not be used for random pee tests.
Are you a Nurse? Something like that happened to me. It is going to cost you money no doubt but I was able to save my license. I had psych test done to determine Im NOT an addict. I am on medication for chronic pain. I did lose my job, however, I was very ill at the time. For MARINOL, should be able to get a note from MD why they prescribed it for you. And of course you NEVER use it at work.

If you have a script for Marinol, according to Arizona law you cannot be charged with DUI.
If you have to pay cash for it it isnt worth it...might as well smoke. Medicare doesnt cover it and the pharmacy wanted over $700 for it. It's cheaper for me to buy pot at the pot clubs...geez
I am aware of all of the above and have a recent Rx for Marinol (although I had not used it for a month). My question is (and I'm positive the answer is yes): Does Marinol stay in your system as long as if you were smoking MJ? I am taking a total of ~80 mgs over a 3-day period and am a slender, active 5'5", 118 lb. female. Will it still take about 30 days to get out of my system?
well, howling, thc is stored in fat. now, as far as how it's converted is another issue (primarily depending upon your regiment of regular food intake (type of foods) and exercise; plus how much you excrete salt from your body via sweat, primarily-by this i mean sauna or taking Niacin to let the Vitamin B do it's thing!).
a heavy smoker, about a month to let thc flush from the fatty cells; without any products to put a rush on things.
although, because a slice is taken out of the emperical build/structure there is a matter of having different terms to which you can ... "flush" it out of your system. for example, opium can be flushed from your system similarly to straight hash, although depending upon the ph balance of the water you intake things can become magnificently different.
what i'm getting at is, yes regular inhalation of marijuana will be similar to Marinol in terms of presence in your body over time.
here is the most reliable (and heart breakingly existent) link to Marinol:
http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dockets/05n0479/05N-0479-emc0004-04.pdf
... along with why it has come to be. why we can't just do things the way mother earth intended, instead of putting it into a quaint pill form (taxably ready for fun the whole family can enjoy, and ignorance can collide!) is something i won't go into.
i hope i was helpful, and ciao!

Hi,
I have a "legal" script for medical marijuana. I also have a script for marinol. I have several auto immune diseases and I am in pain all the time....and am constantly throwing up from one of my conditions. The medical marijuana is the only thing so far that is able to help with my throwin up. My pain management doctor has recently decided that if you are using medical marijuana he will not prescribe any pain pills. Or as he says....pick one or the other. I picked using the pills and it has put me in the hospital twice in the past month because I can't get the throwing up under control. The same doctor has now given me marinol....which I know does not work as well as the medical marijuana. He claims that he can tell in the urine test between the marinol and the medical marijuana. He told me one is synthetic which is how he can tell the difference. I don't know if this is true or not....but I can't take a chance. So.....I use the pills....and can anticipate being in the hospital at least once a month. Which is crazy! The doctor claims that he can lose his license if I am prescribed both. According to the State of NJ and Medicare....this is not true. But....can't force the doctor to give me a prescription. I am looking for another pain management doctor....but doctors who prescribe pills are getting few and far between. I can't believe this guy is spending the extra money to determine which THC is in my system.....but he claims he will know...... I would love to just get a pill that would get rid of my conditions so I don't need any of it....but that's my life!
