I'm having my tonsils out in 2 days...what should I expect?

when you get your tonsills take an out you want fill a thing just remember you will be given this medcine that will help you fall asleep and you wont fill a thing also the surgery will only take 20 minutes

Im 16 An I Got Them Out Friday The Day I Got Them Out It Was Nothinggg, The Second Day Was THE WORST ):, The Third Day Was Was Still Pretty Bad The Forth Day Was Better And Now Im At The Fifth Day And Is Okay ... But Im Far From Healed....

It's a relatively simple procedure. You will be put to sleep and the surgery will take about 20 minuets, often patients go home the same day they went into the hospital but sometimes they make you stay overnight. I don't imagine you do get intubated or catheter, tonsils aren't really internal.

Hell yah, they are scaring me. I am getting mine out over the summber because I know, I will miss school. /:

i had min eout and the pain was hurendas

iv had mine out . I thought it would be unbearable pain ! honestly i was scared i didnt know what to expect at all . I read all of the comments on how it was goin to be painful unbearble how i was goin to cough up blood etc ....I went in had them out i was in for about 20-30mins having them out . When i woke up i was given an ice lolly which really  helped with the pain ! After i got back up staires i was given crisps to eat it didnt hurt at all eatting them i was told not to eat soft stuff but to eat hard stuff. Do NOT drink pop, fruit juice ,energy drinks it burns and hurts  like HELL ! hope iv helped :-)

I'm not sure how often someone gets on to read these passages but I wanted to put a quick tip for less pain after the surgery.  My 15 year old daughter had her tonsils and atnoids removed yesterday and when we came home she took sips of fluid every two hours and continued to do it all through the night and woke up with minimal pain.  When her Dr called to check on her today they were very shocked she was not in a lot of pain and not taking her pain meds being that she said she didnt feel she needed them.  So just keep ur throat wet and it helps tremendously.

 

They want me to get my tonsils out but I'm scared and I really don't want to.  Help!  I get step all the time but I just don't want to get the surgery to get them removed.  

Don't be scared! You'll feel much better afterwards.

how old were you when you had this done? I've heard the older someone is the worse the recovery period is.

Hi my name is Kaylee i might need my tonsils out but i dont know yet. IM PARANOYED, im reading like crazy and im 9. IM very sceard and nervous. I also have lots of questions. I play softball for the Cen Cal Dirtdogs will i miss some tourniments or not. Help me out!!!:-@

WOW, How do I say this while maintaining my cool.

We got it EASY!  I am sure a hundred years ago if you got your tonsils removed it was a life threatening situation.

Ok that is beside the point I am trying to make.  I remember one story my fifth grade teacher told me (Mr. Brooks)

A man jumped into a Boxcar train he saw the door was open and quickly got it and closed the door behind him; not knowing that door locks from the outside.  He then realized that he was in a "MEAT CARBOX" with a freezer.  He was trapped and could not get out.  He began to get cold and can feel his whole body numbing up, all he could see is death.  It was the last train ride he ever had.

When the train eventually came to its final destination, they found the man lying dead in the Box Car.  Nobody really new the cause of death, because the freezer wasn't even working.

Your Mind & Heart can make a situation much more difficult then it really is.  

Filter out the whole world and listen to your body.  I also did remove my tonsils, I think I was fine and didnt feel that much pain until everybody started asking me how bad the paid was.
