I'm having my tonsils out in 2 days...what should I expect?

So I had my tonsils out on the 26th feb 2015 when i was 9 (still 9) and when your there you can ask any questins you want.you can use a gas mask or the cream it is up to you .i had the gas mask and in a blink of an eye I was in neptunes ward(recovery) when I woke up I did experience dizzy ness but the nurses helped me.after I came home from the hospital I felt sick but basically it's like tonsilitus.you will be spoiled rotten so I do recommend you do have your tonsils out

Hello just few questions I'm 27 an a baby too lol. I got a choice to have mine out as Infection every month which r now more painful how long was u off work for if u don't mind me asking and how long until u went out an u was out of hospital same day I get nervous about anything lol what was the do an don't from doc please

They give you sleepy gas you fall asleep...They do the operation. It might hurt a tiny when your done then its ok

I'm getting my tonsils out tomorrow and I'm really scared. but I'm sure it will all be fine. you will go to sleep, and then you wake up and it feels like you have only been sleeping for like 10 seconds. then your throat will be sore for a while and you get to eat ice cream and jello and popsicles and drink Gatorade, so it will be fine!

I'm recovering from getting my tonsils out right now! It's really not that bad. You fall asleep, however they put you to sleep, and then you wake up with a bit of a sore throat. Then you get to go on a shopping trip for ice cream and Popsicles! Slur pies are also good. Don't worry, there's nothing to worry about. :)

I got my Out yesterdauy the 23 and all I can tell U is my experience I won't up after surgery crying from the pain but they got meds right in me and I felt better my surgery only took 11 mins they said they didn't let me have liquid meds so my mom cruches them up and puts them with jelly I am only the second day in to recovery and I am still in pain I hope I better but November 20 I am going awAy

I'm 13, and about two days ago I was sick with a cold. You know sore body,headache,fever,and sore throat.well after I finished vomiting I felt better but I still had a sore throat.the next day I woke up 2nd day of sore throat it was miserable red and throbbing. So I used my phone to take a picture with my flash when I looked I was shocked.my tonsils were huge and blood red! I could barely swallow or eat. Today I woke up and my throat is beyond sore my tonsils are still swollen and blood red. Now I took another picture and I zoomed in I have yellow spots on my left tonsil. The pain when I swallow is unbearable and now I can't talk! I searched up all of my symptoms on Google and I might have tonsillitis!:'-( I'm terrified to get surgery!! Plz tell me everything will be OK!!:'-(

If this is the first time you've had tonsillitis, it's unlikely you'll be having surgery, you may be given some antibiotics to help deal with the infection, so you may want to get yourself booked in with your doctor.
Surgery is usually a last resort after recurring tonsillitis over many years (the surgery itself isn't really bad)
I do hope you feel better soon, tonsillitis itself can be horrendous, drink plenty of fluids and take some painkillers if necessary, but do get to the doctors so it can be confirmed.
Hopefully this is just a one off for you and not a recurring infection.
