I became hyperthyroid about 17 yrs ago after taking radioactive iodine treatment to kill my hyperthyroid.
Yes it's hard sometimes dealing with the lowered metabolism, but all in all as long as I take my medication ( I take Armour Thyroid 90mg daily) I feel okay.
When I was going through treatment my Endrinconologist suggested an anti depressent. She stated that often times with thyroid issues you are depressed. I fought it for about a year and finally gave in to taking one.
To be honest I don't think I'll ever feel like my "old self" again but it's really not that bad.
Talk to your doctor about getting pregnant. I've known people with thyroid that have had a normal prenancy. Fortunately , for me, I was 30 yrs old when I was diagnosed and did not want to get pregnant.
Chin up....it's really not that bad!
