I have had these cramps for over ten years. I am forty seven now. My cramps always feel like a sudden electric shock that radiates into the muscle and then the pain is incredible! I have had one in my right leg every night for over two weeks. My leg is so sore that I cannot stand to touch it. When it first started happening to me, I would run hot water in the bathtub and get in it. These helped for awhile. Then the hot water treatment stopped working and I was at a loss. I would get in the shower or tub and pass out from the extreme amount of pain. I have found a new solution, for now, and that is a roll on medicine called Max Freeze. I found this at my local Walmart. The roll on applies an intense cold that seems to penetrate into the muscle and cause the spasm to release. I thought I would share this with my fellow leg cramp sufferers. This is without a doubt the worst thing anyone can go through!

I hope everyone has a nice cramp free night it was nice to vent.good luck everyone hope the pain stops for all of us.

I get muscle cramps in my legs, thighs, back, and stomach. Don't know what they are but wish I could find out. I have had ultrasounds for the liver and gallbladder and that is not it? The doctor told me the pain in my ribs is the muscles in between each rib!

I've been searching for answers to deep thigh cramps and came up with nothing. I'm so glad to see I'm not alone. I've kept a food diary for a few years. Every time I have had this pain it's been after eating a lot of rich ice cream in the evening. I'm convinced there is a link.

I had about the 20th one of these (over the past 5 years)two days ago and for the second time passed out with the pain. This time I came to on the floor beside my bed with my eye bloodied and bruised and cuts and bruises to my forehead. The other time, only about 6 months ago I hit the bathroom tiled floor and also got a black eye.
I mentioned this to my ortho surgeon who asked about my eye the same day it happened when I later had an appt. with him and told him that I had passed out from an inner thigh cramp and on looking on the net that I had come accross forums of folks experiencing the same things. His response......."don't believe everything you read on the internet".
He said I should consult a neurologist as it sounded like a possible fit to him.
I think he is talking rubbish !

I have a large bruise on my head and a sore shoulder after passing out, without warning, during an attack last night, hitting the basin in the bathroom as I fell. Although you feel like getting out of bed to stretch, I now think it is better to stay put and try and tell yourself to relax. I drink tonic water as soon as I can. Being dehydrated and overusing the legs starts me off. Sympathies to everyone who suffers. It is pain beyond words.

I've had these a few times as I mentioned earlier in the thread.
Last night I had the start of another. As I said earlier in the thread, as soon as I get the warning signs I put on an an Ace knee brace that keeps my leg straight when sleeping. And after the first tremors subside, I can get back to sleep and they don't reoccur. That is what happened last night, too.
But the interesting thing is I think I know what caused it this time. I am part of a swing dancing group that performs at nursing homes. Usually they provide water, but this time we danced outside and water fell trhough the cracks. It was about 80 degrees yesterday with a bit of a breeze, so we were dancing in a nicer environment than the usual nursing hiome visit. They normally keep nursing homes a bit warmer than 80. Anyway, after the performance, we all went out for dinner. All of us were drinking lots of water and iced tea. I probably had two quarts all together.I'm wondering now whether the cramp was due to letting my water level get that low. Or whether the massive hydration flushed out some nutrient that I needed for a pain free night.

I am a 68 year old male, and have had five or six of these cramps over the years. The first was at work about five years ago at my desk, I pass out. The last was this morning at 5am, I also had one on my trip to Africa this past fall and do not like to travel. My Doctor diagnosis is he can not find any problems I belive taking aspirin helps.

I am 70 years old and also have these cramps in both the inner thigh adductor muscles which give unbearable pain - I can also pass-out. Mine come after a long horse-ride when the saddle is not right for me and when I haven't had time to drink regularly. They normally occur about 3 in the morning and last 10-20 minutes with intense sweating. In one post someone said they are due to pressure irritating nerves which pass through the pelvis and down the thighs.
Its comforting to know that other people have the same problem - my doctor thought at first I was having AITs.
