I experience inner thigh cramps as well. I' m still in the dark as too why this issue started at age 54, but diet may be the problem. I take a spon full of mustard, followed by a glass of orange juice and it does the trick within a minute or so.

As crazy as it sounds try to do deep slow breathing in and out while at the same time, like I said crazy but relaxing your self if you can as you deal with this.

Yes! Apple cider vinegar, (the one with the 'mother'), will do the same as the pickle juice....Keep a small amount right by your bed....within reach without even getting out of bed...so you can just lean up and take it. With the ACV, mix it about half and half with water. You could put it in a small plastic sports water bottle. I think it must be caused from a sudden traumatic drop in your body's electrolytes.

How did you come up with that combination to alleviate the inner thigh cramping?

I believe the "Bragg" brand of apple cider vinegar is the best.

I had my third or fourth episode of inner thigh pain. i woke up last night with excruciating pain in my right inner thigh. I have never had a knife stuck in me but for some reason I imagine what I felt last night would be like the pain I had. Have never had such pain. Finally while sitting in a recliner for a while it went away. Having some similar pain now but not sever.

I have had three episodes of thigh cramp, nausea, almost passing out. For me probably due to working in a hot enviroment and not drinking enough.
I found that lying on the floor and putting my leg up in the air helped to stop the cramp progressing.

I have thigh cramps but it's not my inner thigh, it's the whole thigh! It wakes me up out of my sleep and it is usually in both legs. The pain is so excruciating that I sweat so bad it's like someone put me in the shower. I hear myself calling out to my son but he never comes to see if I'm ok so I must not be calling out vocally. My legs will curl up like I'm in the fetal position because my muscles are so tight. I'm not sure how long they last but at least 5 to 10 minutes each time but not sure how long I'm out for. This does not happen all the time but when it does I try to get on the floor or somewhere safe
PS my doctor told me to call the squad if it happened again and my response was...how am I gonna do that because I pass out

I've had them since 2004. I have noticed they frequently happen if I've been urinating a lot (diuresing) or sweating heavily. They usually hit me at night. I awaken needing to urinate and suddenly the thigh cramp starts. this all suggests an imbalance of minerals or electrolytes that irritate the neuromuscular system. In addition to putting me on Vitamin D, Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium, my doctor, prescribed me a medication called Gabapentine that appears to stop the problem. It does make you very sleepy for a few days until you build up tolerance, but really doesn't have any significant side effects. You can take it every day or just try taking it if you have been sweating or diuresing, but that means you keep getting the sleepy side effects. Basically Gabapentine relaxes irritated nerve and muscle fibers.

this happened to me last night...awoke to excruciating pain in the entire thigh...felt sick to my stomach from it...when i was finally able to get out of bed I went to the bathroom to splash cold water on my face and drink water..on my way back to the bedroom passed out, fell backwards narrowly missing a corner with my head; however did damage to my tail bone. Ive been told that taking potassium during the day and magnesium before bed is helpful,,,im trying that tonight!!!

I'm a forester, and will get these cramps after working in the field (or on a wildfire) for an extended period of time. Dehydration is a key factor, as is fatigue. I have started treating the cramps with a mix (in a 24oz bottle) of Powerade, cider vinegar, and water. Follow that up with another 24 oz of water. It works. I don't think it's j just the power of positive thinking, as suggested by a previous poster. Cider vinegar is the key, as it has a ridiculous amount of potassium. One poster said that they were on HCTZ, as was I at one point. If you are active and sweat freely as I do, get off the HCTZ, as it makes you pass potassium and salt in your urine and sweat. Obviously, consult your doctor first. Just sharing what works for me.

When this repeatedly occurred to me it turned out I had low thyroid function , may have just been a coincidence. The cramps occurred for the first time in several years just a few days ago and I am going to get my thyroid function checked.

I have had leg cramps for the 15 yrs. Dr.s kept saying they had no answer other than getting old. I took my self off Crestor, as that is one of the side effects. Helped a little, but not completely gone. The a PT mentioned the tablet called Nuun. It is something you dissolve in 16oz. of water. I buy the the called Nuun Active through Amazon. It's an electrolyte. A pharmacist said it was completely safe. It has helped tremendously. Instead of getting horrible thigh cramps a couple of times a week is now maybe one every other month or so. They were so bad I would pass out. I also keep apple Cider Vinegar and Hylands dissolving tablets nearby. The heating pad is my backup. I finally have a hold on this debilitating pain.
