Hello.
I have been suffering from anxiety and mood swings as long as I can remember. Sometimes I think that whole world is against me, that my family and friends hate me and all that I want to do is to go somewhere and be alone forever.
As you can see, my life has been difficult. I wanted to control my symptoms with risperidone and all went well until few months ago when I started to experience unusual side effects such as dry mouth, dizziness, and tiredness.
After consultation with my psychiatrist, I decided to withdraw from risperidone. But, now I'm experiencing severe headaches every day. Is this usual withdrawal symptom or something is wrong?
Hello, Natalie.
I suppose you are familiar with general "10 percent" rule when withdrawing from drugs? That means you lower your dosage by 10% and go on another step only when your body is fully recovered from previous cut.
You can achieve that by using liquid risperidone. You can cut your dosage by diluting the liquid with distilled water.
About withdrawal symptoms, yes, headaches are something common during this process. You can, also, experience insomnia and delusions.
Just remember, slowly taper off of this medication and be patient.
Good luck!
