hey im 17 years of age and just wondering if tight underwear is important when weight lifting? someone told me for guys its important to wear tight underwear whilst weight lifting to reduce chances of hernia, shrinking of testicles and penis? is this true? this question is frequently asked especially at the gym..

I don't believe tight underwear helps reduce the chances of hernia to a large extent. It does help a little in holding your internal organs in place while you are lifting heavy. So I think it is beneficial in that respect. I much prefer using a weightlifting belt. I tightened it as much as I could, as this would give me much added support to my back and abdomin, allowing me to lift my max without risking injury to those areas. I would imagine tight underwear would cause your testicles and penis to shrink a little due to the added pressure on them.

i think you want to use tight underwear when you lifting weight. i think it is beneficial for your secret stuff.

Wear anything that will allow your body to move freely. Boxers have the risk forcing your lower back to round on exercises like the squat. Some boxers can have a similar effect to squatting down in tight pants or shorts. I'd go with spandex or briefs. I don't know if you're trolling with the other part, but that's completely false. The worst that can happen with briefs and spandex is deformed sperm since your body can no longer control the temperature by moving the testicles further or closer to the body.
