Yeah, i got those bumps too and i went to the doctor for them. My doctor said it was because i am on birth control and it makes my skin more sensitive to the sun and also makes it easier for me to develop a heat rash. That's what he said it was, a heat rash. He gave me no medication and simply said they will go away after to take a shower or within a couple hours. Sooooo you have nothing to worry about if you get them :-)

I get these every time I tan!!!! They itch and are red, kind of feeling like a bumpy sun burn. I never used to get these until I started taking birth-control, I think that plays a factor. I found limitiing your tan time in the beds and how often you go, will help keep the rash down. ALSO, GET SOME POISON IVY CLEAR LOTION AND PUT IT ON THE AREAS, BEFORE TANNING, THAT BREAK OUT THE MOST, AND THIS WILL PREVENT THE BREAKOUT AND KEEP IT FROM ITCHING. I, ALSO AFTER TANNING, SHOWER AND PUT A THING LAYER ON AGAIN. THIS SERIOUSLY HELP...BENADRYL AT NIGHT WOULDN'T HURT EITHER.

I too am getting these bumps. It is only on one side of my face- the side that is completely under the lights; my other side has some opening where the bed doesn't completely close. I am on Bactrum for acne. I thought the tanning would help clear it, but now I'm not thinking that's the case. I have little bumps that are under the skin and just skin colored all over my left cheek and forehead. The dermatologist recommended Cortizone cream, but it isn't helping. Will these go away soon? I'm freaking out.

I just noticed i have bumps on my leg from tanning. i've been tanning for a month for prom and today the bed got extremely hot and i noticed a spot on my leg getting itchy. now i have a little patch of white blisters. they are very tiny but there is a good bit of them. it's probably heat rash because i've never got them before.

I began tanning again after 5 yrs of not tanning (trying to be healthier but gave it up for vanity) and started getting the red bumps too. I've read things about cleaning products, too much tanning and sweat being trapped. When I went into tan today I asked the owner if it could be the accelerator that I'm using. She said many people ask this and the answer is "no" but there was another guy there waiting to tan as well. He also gets the bumps (only on his chest) and said to use Neosporin. I too wondered if this was brought on (or worsened) by birth control. This guy somewhat debunked that theory, although it could worsen or aggravate it by making you more susceptible to the UV rays. One reader commented that it was not the cleaning solution as she/he used the stand up machine but I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I would guess the cleaner would disburse into the air under the heat conditions and be absorbed through the skin. The trapped sweat theory makes no sense to me because when I work out I sweat much more than in the tanning salon and don't get this rash. I could see this being possible in the type where you lay down because the sweat sits on your body, but not in the stand up machine where it would run down the same in any case. Any one else have thoughts on this? I'm going to try the clean towel idea and see if that works. Yes, I am committed. It's either figure something out or stop tanning and since I'm blessed with my Mother's English skin , I really need to tan!

I too have been getting this rash after i tan. I recently started tanning for vanity reasons and it seems like the areas that werent exposed to the sun already get red and itchy. mostly my thighs and lower stomach area . I too thought it might be the cleaning solutions or even the tanning lotion I use. But the rash is not all over my body. I havent used a stand up bed yet i want to try that once to see if I break out . This would be my luck

I am so glad I found this forum thread. I just noticed a few minutes ago that I had a red rash all over my stomach but only on my front. The bumps exactly matches what everyone is describing - red around each pore. The size of the bumps higher up on my stomach are smaller like small hives and the ones on the lowest part of my stomach are larger so they almost connect - making it look more a wide rash. I used a stand-up bed.

I can't speak for all of you, but I am going to guess that if you have the red bumps it is probably not something that was on the beds. Next time after tanning I'm going to try coming home right away and showering and not putting any of my normal lotion on my stomach for a day or so afterward.

I kept getting a rash on my butt, it was extremely itchy and caused big red bumps and stayed there for like 4 days.... i went to the doctor and he told me is was a fungus infection like athletes feet (which spreads a lot in tanning beds because of the moisture and heat) use an over the counter cream for athletes feet. or it could simply be a heat rash.

i have been tanning for 4 days now. and i have red bumps all over my chest and by my pubic area. they are itchy really badly. My doctor says its a heat rash and to let the tanning salon know of it so they consider changing the fluids they use on the beds when the clean them.. ALOE and BENDRLY(Sp?) helps a lot..

GO TO THE DOCTOR AND GET ONIMENT!!!!!
