I get the same thing. No solution to it yet! It's been happening in the tanning bed AND in the sun for the last 4 years now. It's a bit embarrassing but I try to cover the bumps up until they go away, which for me takes about 1 week. Good Luck!

Everytime i tan in a tanning bed or even just laying out in the sun i get an itchy rash on the same areas of my body every time. On the back of my arms, behind my knees, stomach, boobs & the top of my legs. It lasts about five days & it itches really bad & very uncomfortable. Aloe vera & benedryl does help. Is it heat rash..or sun allegy? I really dont know. I asked my dermatoligist and all he said was stay out of the sun. Annoying!

They are not sweat bumps but generally just about everyone gets them from tanning, they are annoying - but they do eventually stop and its not anything to get freaked out about, as mentioned before - put aloe vera or sum sort of after sun lotion on after u tan and they do eventually stop. Its because the lights are so intense and ur skin has to adjust to the intensity, i use: aloe vera after sun continuous spray and it works great to stop the itch and the bumps do stop eventually.

I have been tanning in beds for years. After 3 days,  I always get these itchy bumps on my back, stomack and betweeen my boobs. Ive come to relaize that is just the areas that DONT get alot of sun. If you cover these areas for 3 days while tanning, with a towel or a top, they will go away and you can resume tanning. THey wont come back if you let them completely heal the first time. They are not a fungus (we would have them everywhere)..they are a heat rash. It  isnt nec the UVB rays because I use a bed that has UVA only and i still get them.  Just cover them for 3 days with a towel or a top and once they are gone they wont come back and you can tan normaly.

I just found this thread from a Google search because I, too, have the mysterious red bumps.  I looks like heat rash.  I have it in my pelvic area, sort of halfway betweenmay lower abdomen and my hip.  I have tanned before and never got these.  It itched first, then after a day or so it turned red.  I typically go to the gym after I tan, so I do get pretty sweaty for a while, and then shower after.  I think there is a heat rash element, but clearly the UV is the trigger and one common thread.  I think for me it's also the extra pale skin on that part of the body.  I use a stand-up type so I don't think cleaners are it.  They did say that they'd just replaced the bulbs in the stand-up.

i lay in the tanning beds nude and i get the same one inch round redish rash like deal on my bootie cheek same spot every time i lay in it. i clean the bed before i lay in it just for my sain it itches like hell after, but i bought some antibiotic bar soap and rub on a hand towel with warm water and the pain and itch goes right away . all i can think what it may be is our skin is very sensitive in these areas ... hope this helped yaull.....p.s. you can get this bar soap from any retail store its cheap.

I have gone to tanning beds for years and I always get this rash on my stomach groin and sometimes chest. Sometimes it itches and most it doesn't. Wait a few hours after your session in the bed, so it has time to set in, and take a luke warm to cool shower and wash well. When you get out put some after sun lotion and aloe, without die (the green stuff has die in it), and you should be good to go in a few hours. Also, drink a lot of water to flush toxins from your body constantly throughout the day anyhow. What you put in your mouth comes out through your pours in sweat.

I get these bumps on my heels & the sides and top of my feet. its annoying because they itch all day because of my socks and shoes! i 95% of the time tan everyday and it usually starts showing up after a week or so. i stop tanning for a couple of days until it goes away because i dont want them to get worse. the place i tan at ALWAYS cleans the beds as soon as somebody gets one of the room & you can see all the rooms from the front door so i knew it wasnt because they werent cleaning the beds. i just thought i was weird and was the only person who got these bumps & was startin to get worried. i too am on BC(mirena) and it started happening after i was put on it so i thought that had something to do with it too!

I used to work at a tanning salon, and most of the bumps you guys are talking about it just your skin being sensitive to the UV light. after going a long time without tanning (especially in the winter) and then going tanning almost everyday, your skin is really sensitive to it so you will get bumps in your sensitive areas. nothing to worry about though, just stop tanning for a while, and put aloe on them to reduce the itch, and next time you start tanning, work your way up to the full time. & make sure you use a lot of lotion!
