Well i had my tonsils out 5 days ago aswell. and its horrible, the first 2 days where fine but that 3rd day hit me hard. i just laid there taking pain killers. so far i have lost 4kgs(8.8lb). its sucks to drink and especially eat. I have had custard but that causes to much mucas so i am not having that anymore. Iccy poles are the best thing sometimes even better than pain killers.
i can now feel the scabs on the back of my throat and cant wait for them to fall off. i just hope i start getting better everyday now.
my out of pocket exepense for this was $3200 not cheap in any way... but im hoping that in the long run i will be better cause i was constantly tired, smelly breathe and just was destroying my life.
i hope this helps anyone out there.

Hello ....this is my 7 day on recovery ... and let me tell you its not fun ..when i woke up from the surgery i was fine little did i know i was still on like the sleep mode i have not talked for a long time and that was hard for me (i love to talk)but i am getting my voice back today well a little and this is the most painful thing ever i am warm and cold and i wake up every 3 hours and at 3 am i am up for good until at least 6 am and the medicine does not help me at all and for the first two days i found it hard to so on the third day i tried something that if you are having trouble drinking this should help use a syringe it sounds stupid but it helped me outand now i can drink water out of cup and i can drink milk ...

p.s if you are feeling better and your stomach isnt and you want to clear it out drink or eat some yogurt i use the little yogurt drinks but the yogurt cups work to !!!!
happy recovery to everybody out there who is going through what i am going through !!!

Hey im on day 5 of getting my tonsils out, im 18 and after suffering for a year(im very lucky many suffer for years) but unfortuantly i suffered from Quincy which i can honestly say is the most horrific thing! I had surgery in october in it when unfortuantly i was awake for the hole thing and because it had reached such a bad stage i felt every bit of it!I suffered from this twice within the space of 5months.and have been hopitalised 3 times during this time, i was told having your tonsils out is no where near as bad as ur infections before THEY LIED!! the pain is becoming unbarable, im on define and solpadine and yes they are workin but only for a few short hours! im not sleeping, eating or even drinking as it burns, stings and leads me to tears as i feel it slowly run don my throat..Is anyone else suffering from toothaches? My teeth feeel like they have been pulled out VERY slowly for the past 5 days and its really really painful. Also have the ear ache, headache, burning sensation, stringing, pure pain;( As anyone any advice in situated in ireland and dont think i can deal with this pain for much longer, my mother is becoming increasingly worried as im very disoriantated..

I am going to get my tonsils out in about a month, and scared to death. Mine are so enlarged that it's going to be a heck of a time. Everyone's telling me that im gonna be in so much pain and have the worst week of my life. When my doctor told me i am going to be in pain i knew i was in for a rough week. Any one have any good foods that will be easy to eat as soon as possible? i normally heal fast with problems in my mouth, so i am hoping this goes by quick. I hate pain.

Alright guys, I am on day 8 of recovery, and surprise surprise I still feel terrible! I just started talking again today, although I sound very weird. I have broken bones, had other surgeries which were easy and seemingly pain free, but I can honestly say this has been HORRIFIC. Prior to this I had gone through episodes of tonsillitis, abcesses etc, so I thought this surgery would be simple and painfree (WRONG). I almost feel at this point that getting sick alot would have been better than going through with surgery. All I have only been able to eat popsicles, sorbet, applesauce and limited amounts of water. I have lost about 15 pounds thus far and I don't seem to be getting even close to better. My advice is be ready for hell and let the doctor know that hydrocodone isn't gonna do the trick. Request liquid roxicet 5/325 and be ready to take it. Good luck all, hopefully I'll be back to normal soon!

hello i am 18 years old, i am on day three off having my tonsils taken out,

well where doo i starti read these reviews and to what i work out older you are more painfull it is,

like i say im 18 and it isnt best feeling in world with giving me quite abit off pain

day 1- after the opertation (wich wasnt bad at all) when i woke up the burning sencation was pritty bad but after i was pilled up with the painkillers they gave me i was eating

infact i was suppos to stay over night but i had eaten 4 slices of toast and jam, 2 ham sandwitches and was drinking constant cups of tea

they had let me home that night!
day 2 wasnt bad at all i was if not suprised, i was eating toast in morning crips all day toad in hole with mash and beans for tea scoffing my face all night i think this was due too the good pain killers they had provided me!

day 3, probs my worse day but still bareable only thing that hert today was when i woke up its like when u have tonsolitis and u wake up and ur pain killers have worn off it herts i went town stairs drank a pint of water wich hert alot, had my pain killers and a hour or soo later im writing this and feeling alright im sat drinking a cup off tea

i dont wanna look inside my mouth coz i find it soo unpleasant to luck at..
i just wrote this for people my age to understand that yeah it does hert but not as bad that people make out at end off day if u get tonsolitis every 4-5 weeks its well worth it yeah it herts like, but its better than getting tonsolitis every 4-5 weeks i do boxing and i get tonsolitis takes me well out of training get better start training again and before i know it i have it again missed 2 fights in 8 weeks due to it so im glad to get the little Bast**ds taken out...nothing but greif o.O

well i hope you all get better for the people that had them out !!
and if ur reading this and awaiting to get them took out, just go ahead with it, its not as bad as you think, mabye it affects people different and thats why it herts some more than other, but my advise get it done then ya tonsolitis or w,e occouring problem is, over!!

anyway thank for reading take care and either get better or if u awaiting opperation good luck :-D

Hi, second day after operation, and no problems. The only thing that bothers me is how different if feels back there! And of course, it is still swollen, and the stitches are sticking out, which feels weird, but I'm going through no pain. The doctor gave me liquid loritab, which is AMAZING. The only thing that bothered me was some nausea the first day of surgery, but that was it. Slight pain, but not unbearable. I can talk find, just a little slower, doesn't hurt to talk. It's the second day and I'm eating mac and cheese. I guess everyone is different!

I had my tonsils out on Friday the 26th and it is the 30th today. The mornings are the worst for me. My throat kills and my ears won't stop hurting. I was on Roxycet for the first two days but am now on Hydrocodone and that seems to have no affect at all on my pain. I think age plays a huge factor in pain and healing. Get this surgery done while you're young!!!

I'm 19 and I'm on day like 8 or something.
It really wasn't that bad of an experience for me. I was eating and everything right off the bat and I didn't just have my tonsils done. I had four procedures done at once. I had my deviated septum corrected, something else with my nose, then a maringotomy, draining of the fluid in the ears and then my tonsels. Right now my only problem is that im a bit stuffed up still from the packing in my nose that was removed, and my throat is a little soar but i can eat mac and cheese and what not.

i'm on day 6, but lately there has been this stench. I ask people "what's that smell?" and they always say "i don't smell anything". Is it possible that this "stench" is in the back where my tonsils use to be? Because when i breathe out of my nose it smells worse, and breathing alone i just want to drink perfume to get rid of the horrid smell. Are any of you having a "phantom stench" in your tonsils?

yea I'm 17 years old just got my tonsils out it is now day 2.... right after the surgery i hardly noticed anything and i could talk fine, then it seemed like my throat swelled up and got all slimy and hard to swallow. Its day 2 now and its still like that just worst and i can barley talk at times, last night it was hard for me to breathe out my nose making it hard to sleep and this morning was just painful as all hell. that hydrocodone or lortab sh*t works alright but only for a few hours and even with the cloroceptic spray they still hurt...i even spit slimy mucus-like blood twice. that was disgusting.
