If you have had pelvic or stomach surgery adhesions (internal scar tissue) can stick to other organs ie bowel and bladder and can cause nerve pain when bladder or bowel are full or even semi full along with low back pain, hip pain etc.

I've had all the same symptoms of pain off and on for at least 4 years. My symptoms have disappeared in the last 3 months since I started drinking a liver and kidney detox tea made by Yogi. I buy it on Amazon in bulk and drink it almost daily now. My symptoms have not returned even if I sleep extended hours on the weekends. It makes sense that if the kidneys are full of toxin build up, that it is harder for them to do their job which I understand happens alot as we sleep. I hope this helps others as I believe it's what helped end my kidney pain.

I am having the same problem as you have all mentioned above. Pain on both sides of lower back near kidneys in the morning. Ive done an ultrasouns and a CBC with Diff today with the dr to check my organs. My UA came up with no bacteria or anything like that. Reading this blog and another gave me a few ideas to try. Caffene seemed to be the culprit for some people with the same problem. Also just changing the bed mattress and getting inserts in the shoes/boots. Im going to try both and also follow up with the dr.l Wishing you all well.

Hi, and i thought i was unique! After reading letters on Kidney Pain, i realised i was one of many! Pain starts when i lie down, worse lying on back. I sleep on my left side which helps. Pain goes after getting up in the morning, although back and ribs feel sore for a time. Pain started last September, coinciding with putting my back out. I have a worn vertibrae, between L5 & S1 that has given me trouble since my 20s. I have cervical spondylosis after whiplash in 1969, also kidney stones. Any advice grateful.

I started having this problem for about 8 months in both kidneys. Now I literally have to sleep sitting up every single night. When I do that, the pain is greatly reduced to almost non existent. BUt, I did try something that got rid of the pain altogether even when I did sleep laying down all night, and that was going completely raw vegan with blended drinks (no solid food) for about a week. It is a very difficult regimen for some people if you are addicted to comfort food and things. I got inspired to do this after watching markus rothkranz videos and after reading his book 'heal yourself 101.' Great book. But, again, it's really hard to do and to stick with it. I fell off the wagon and started eating things (sugar, cooked eggs, a little meat, still smoking, etc) and the kidney pain came back. But, for the few days that I was absolutely diligent with my diet, I had no kidney pain whatsoever. When I started to "fall off the wagon" I merely started out with organic peanut butter on organic apple slices at night. Just THAT alone made my kidney pain come back. So, I figure it might have something to do with the proteins in the peanut butter. One night all I have was a couple boiled eggs on a salad, BAM kidney pain came right back. So again, I think it has to do with too much undigested and "dead" (cooked) proteins going straight to the kidney where they just kind of sit.
So, even though I am in pain right now, I think I do have a great solution. Go completely raw vegan and blend your food in smoothies. No solid food. At the beginning, only do vegetables (mostly celery bases mixed with spinach greens, kale, avocados, etc) and don't cheat. The kidney pain will be gone if you can actually do this. I'm serious. I was amazed that it disappeared so quickly. Plus I felt great. I myself am just finding it a bit difficult to change that many habits but I'm trying. I know you can pull a Yoda on me and say "do, or do not, there is no try," but quitting smoking is not the easiest thing in the world to do, or changing any other habit no matter what it is really. But, once you start to see the real benefits, some people out there might be able to make the switch better than I am. I know "all I have to do" is quit smoking and drinking coffee so dang much and start exercising and actually do this diet to the letter. I'm getting there... really. It's just hard to change sometimes.
If you are worried about where you would get your protein going on this diet, there is a lot of protein in avocados and spinach greens actually.. and they are more digestible and usable than animal protein. I am not a crusader for this diet and I still eat meat periodically, so I do not have a moral agenda here, but I can tell you it really works if you actually do it. Give it a shot and see if your kidney pain disappears. I imagine that after a few weeks or months of nothing but blended drinks you can start to work in other things to see if the kidney pain comes back or if something got healed to the point where you are more or less safe to eat what you want. I know I'm not safe and am definitely still in the jungle of addictive behaviors, even though I know those behaviors and habits are really messing me up and causing me a lot of pain.

Hi There, i am suffering from very similar symptoms as you describe, but I am 45/female. In my own research I learned that high blood pressure/hypertension can be related to kidney issues, the two are related. Ask your doctor to send you to a urologist and bring this up - a regular M.D. won't make the connection. Best of luck to you and God Bless

Hello again everyone. I was the guest poster above who talked about going raw vegan to help with the kidney pain. Good news, my kidney pain is almost completely gone even though I have been cheating here and there with my diet. I found one thing that REALLY helps, and it is........ drumroll...... CILANTRO! I put it in all my blended drinks now. Even if you find going totally raw really unattractive, still just try making the blended drinks with organic celery, kale, spinach (if you can't go all organic that is fine) and TONS OF CILANTRO. I put one or more bunches of rinsed cilantro in every mixed drink I make. You might also want to invest in a blender that really pulverizes everything into pulp. They can get expensive but it is worth it to have ultra blended drinks.
I've been doing science on myself, basically, and seeing what I can get away with. When my kidney pain started disappearing with all the cilantro I was eating, I decided to have tacos one night. Normally this would have me reeling in pain the morning after, but amazingly my kidneys didn't hurt AT ALL. I have done a few other experiments like this by eating certain things that would usually make my kidneys hurt really bad, and every time I have been fine. BUT, this is not like a "get out of jail free card." I am trying to improve my diet on many, many levels. I am not simply trying to find out what I can get away with by learning this or that trick. Getting healthy and staying healthy is a priority. It is just hard to change that many habits all at once. One thing I stay away from completely is bread of any kind.
Another thing that may have lead to my kidneys not hurting anymore is, like I stated in my last post, that I have been on this regimen (more or less) for a few months. Things take time sometimes. If you read this and start blending up cilantro every day and still have kidney pain, you have to realize that things take time and you might have to change a few other things as well. There is no "silver bullet" when you want to heal. There are many, many things you can do to start putting yourself on the right track, and it is ok to cheat. Just don't beat yourself up too much. Things take time.
I hope this helps.

I know I said that I "stay away from bread of any kind" and that you might think "but you said you ate tacos." I did, but I ate it without the shell. It was just a giant pile of meat, cheese, tomatos and lettuce. Bread of any kind is like glue in your digestive system. I guarantee that you have bread inside of you right now that is black and ancient... no joke.
