Got mine done in February of 2011 & still have a little pain from time to time. I do not notice it much at all, every several weeks now. My right (vas)side scarred up pretty bad and its definately larger than the left. The end result is ok, but he several months of not knowing how it would end up was the worst time of my life.

I had my vasectomy on September 28th. I iced my sack the rest of that day and had a little pain the following day. After that everything seemed fully healed except for some minor aches. Nine days later I woke up to a very swollen left nut and a lot of pain. The pain and swelling has been persistent for 5 straight days now. I called the doctor and he said this was normal. If this pain isn't gone by Monday, I'm going to see my general practitioner. I am surprised that there are this many issues with this "routine" surgery.

I had a vasectomy 7 or so years ago. All was fine, I was sore for awhile healed well. But, ever since then I get bouts of pain in the side of at least one ball. I may or may not be relieved by sex. At any rate I have a soft coiled mass beside my right ball that hurts from time to time. I recently had a physical from my doctor that has never seen me before and asked about my mass. I said its always been there as far as I remember. Wouldn't you know it, the damn thing is sore again. So, anyone who has soft masses by their balls let me know, not im thinking like Lance Armstrong the one balled wonder.

Had mine done a little over 3 weeks ago now. Had 2 incisions, one on each side. After a week, my right side turned black and blue, kind of freaked me out. Pain wise, not bad at all. I kept the frozen pea regimen constant. Had it done on a Friday, returned to work on the following Tuesday. The following Thursday I took it for a test drive with zero pain and just as much sensation and really no change in the amount of semen, etc. 3.5 weeks later I have a peanut sized mass behind the right incision, which I understand is probably sperm leakage/buildup. Its not painful and I had intercourse for the first time the night before last with no pain or problems. The doctor said the lump should disappear after a few more weeks.
I've read all of these horror stories so I thought I'd throw my boring story in, I'm glad I got it done. Can't wait for a few more weeks when I get the final sperm count test done so I can have start having intercourse the way it was intended! I've been married for 15 years and I can see my wife is even excited about this, which to be honest, is a nice thing to see (as I'm sure some of you can relate to).
Anyway, take it or leave it, I have no regrets, a tiny bit of pain and a lot to look forward to! Life is good!

Hello everyone, after reading all these replies I felt compelled to add my 2 cents. I had my vasectomy done almost 5 years ago! Till this day I get sudden pains out of the blue. Like someone flicked my balls (not a good feeling). I actually feel pain after ejaculation....WTF! I went to my doc he gave me some antibiotics, told me it was "Post-vasectomy pain syndrome" it's a chronic and sometimes debilitating genital pain condition that may develop immediately or several years after vasectomy. Because this condition is a syndrome, there is no single treatment method, therefore efforts focus on relieving the individual's specific pain. When pain in the epididymides is the primary symptom, post-vasectomy pain syndrome is often described as congestive epididymitis." SYMPTOMS- Persistent pain in the genital area. Groin pain upon physical exertion. Pain when achieving an erection and/or engaging in sexual intercourse. Pain upon ejaculation!! Yea, wish someone told me about this before the procedure!! I suffer from this still, if I have sex more that 3/4 times a week, pain when ejaculating is sure to follow. I have been wondering if reversal might help but unfortunately health insurances do not pay for this and the cost is roughly $10,000!
My advice is wear a condom and leave your jewels alone, not worth the risk. I have not been the same since I had this damn procedure.
On another note, yes I also went through the melon size balls, the "John Wayne" walk and moving around was just a nightmare for a good month. Simple and quick recovery my @$$.
Sex has not been the same for me ever since.

I had mine done middle of July 2012. I was fine for a week and then suddenly started feeling a sharp pain in my left side, just below my navel. Luckily my wife is a Dr, so she gave me antibiotics on top of the pain killers the Urologist gave me. I went back to the Urologist and it turned out I was the 1/1000 that get's infection and inflammation! Took about a month since operation to be pain free.

Got mine down about 2 yrs ago and have earlier posts on this thread. It took 3 months before I had a day when I didn't get that "pulling" sensation on my nuts. About a year later I only get, what I can only explain as a mild throbbing/ ache where they cauterized the ends where it feels they are tied off trying to get back up inside me at the base of the penis every other month for a few minutes or so. Sex is great, no complaints there. I would not suggest this to anyone unless they can't trust themselves with a condom to put one on. I know guys that were up and fine in 3 days and couple that took months to heal up like me. What do you have to lose or gain (literally, another kid) is up to you to decide. Nothing is 100% fool proof short of having your nuts cut out or abstinence. MAKE AN EDUCATED DECISION FIRST BEFORE DOING ANYTHING. The post pain does not happen to everyone, but it happens to more than your urologist will tell you, mine IGNORED me. Find 10 guys who've been snipped who you know and will tell you their real story, should only take about 20 seconds, it was fine, it was ok, it was bad...... Guys are guys it wont take long and they will let you know if your a chicken or its the wrong thing to do depending on their experience. THEN make your educated decision.

Hello,
I am currently at day five, about to go see the Doc.
Did everything as required, ice packs, tight jocks, minimal walking and lots of sleep.
Day0:During the operation i also went white as a ghost and broke into a cold sweat when the doc started pulling on tubes after going in.The local needle's on each side were not so bad, (could easily just breathe through them).Took a long time for the doc to do the OP, (he said it was one of the hardest ones he had done) due to some complications with my tubes pulling back inside me and found it very hard to relax.
Getting home was hard (dont try and drive home on your own) lucky i had my wife present.Ball Sack was extremely swollen, embedded in the bandage i was advised to not remove for atleast 24 + hrs.Was very hard to sleep that nite. pain was bearable, stomahce was prolly feeling the worst at this point
Day1: (after the operation)Woke up to find half my sack had slipped out of my bandage overnight, and had swollen to the size of an orange.(normally i have a left nut the size of a regular walnut and a right the size of a large walnut).Wow i have heard of blue balls, but when i removed that the right side of my sack was completely black, blue towards the middle.Left side of my sack was almost completely fine (this is the side that slipped out ???)
Got a new bandage from my first aide kit, wrapped my entire sack again like it was before to help relieve the horrible sensations i was getting in my lower stomache and groin area. Tight Jocks really really help lads ... No lumps are noticeable at this point. Just extremely swollen and bruised.
Had a shower that nite, wow that felt good.
Day2:Things are looking better than day one, Most of the blackness is now blue and purple.Stomach pain has reduced, groin area still very sensitive / sore.Sack is now the size of a small orange, still very swollen though and painfull to walk at times.Still getting plenty of sleep, barely have needed to take any pain killers by this point.Drinking plenty of water and now only occasionally using the ice pack for relief.
Shower again felt awesome, good form of relief of you are not experiencing any infection's.
Day3:Wow this morning my balls have now dropped, feels like they are bungy jumping in my sack,Sack is now much better in size and colour (still very purple on right side). My nuts are hanging so low, I look like some old granddad. Once again tight jocks help.
Had to go for a huge piss this morning, took ages must of been dreaming about the misses last night as a fair bit of white "jizz"came out with my piss and omg did it feel good to get all that out, must of pissed over a litter and a half.
Still very sore to walk around, staying in bed and laying around the house to keep me well rested.
Will Post Day 4 and 5 later. off to the docs for now ...

Things are getting much better since going to the docs and getting some re-assurance everything is ok. Currently at day 9 and things are getting better by the day, balls almost now returned to normal colour and all swelling has gone. Extra lump on left side has now resided, and lump on right is very slowly getting smaller and less painfull. Hope this helps. Overall providing everything keeps healing, and returns to normal it will be a great decision. Anyone planning to get one i would recommend having atleast 2 weeks off from work just to be sure.

The lumps/scar tissue have not gone away for me. Everything works fine, but I still get that "tight" sensation from time to time. Kind of like a dull head ache at the lump/ scar tissue site on each side. All in all it was worth it, but I dropped a ton of weight worrying for 3 months if everything would subside and return to normal. I had buddies that said that they took up to 6 months before they did not notice it any longer. IF it's an option & married or the like, have the doc take care of her when she's already on the table just after the "last" kid instead. Being divoriced that was not an option for me but I've known others that took that route.

I am 6 weeks post vas and had/have a walnut sized, hard hematoma above my right testicle. It caused excrutiating pain for the first 3 weeks and after the ultrasound they confirmed it was a hematoma and not an infection. It is very slowly shrinking but I still have constant aching on the right side all the way up to my lower abdomen - apparently the inguinal nerve is connected. I am not sure it will ever go away but I've read posts that it can take up to 6 months. If anyone has actually had this happen and had it totally disappear I'd love to hear about it.

Took 3 full months for it to go away, other guys I know said it took about 6 months. My junk was aching yesterday for no reason pretty bad for about 3 minutes and then it went away???? It happens sometimes. Nothing ever lasts more than several minutes at a time and that only occurs one or twice a month, and usually not very bad. It has been 2 years since I had mine done and read my fair share of horror stories. Other guys were at the bar the next day and doing yard work, wish that was me.
