I'm posting and am hoping to read some happy endings similar to what I'm going through.
I had a "no scalpel" vasectomy on January 25. I'm now 2 1/2 weeks on. Everything seemed to go as per expectation. By day 6 I felt virtually pain free without any symptoms. 3 days later and the day after I had sex for the first time post op, I felt pain and some swelling in my right testicle, no bruising or discoloration. I've contacted my doctor twice who says what I'm going through at this point not unusual and to take IBU 400mgs 3 times a day. Well I'm still feeling it without any real change. I'm petrified this will be chronic. I prohibited myself from Googling prior to the surgery.for fear of exaggerative stories. Now I wish I had.
At this point has anyone felt what I'm feeling and recovered?

Quick follow up - about 4 months after the procedure. Not a bit of pain, don't notice a thing is different. Had my final test done and I've been in the clear from the doc for a couple of months. Worth it in my opinion. I feel for you guys that have chronic pain. I hope I don't have something come up in the future, but good luck!

Hey Beezee05, I'm only 11 days into this (scalpel procedure) and am experiencing the same condition. I had been about 95% the last three days, but suddenly today I have an ache in the right testicle up to my abdomen and into my lower back. The pain fares up to the point I have trouble walking. Hopefully this is just part of the recovery process. How are you doing now?

Please someone tell me something to pick me up, so I'm 8 days post vasectomy I have 2 long hard lumps on both sides of my scrotum above my testicles that my doctor has diagnosed has a hematoma, he said 2 weeks and it will be gone but after reading some if the stories on here I'm getting worried, my testicle looks nothing like it did before it resembles a 85 year old testicle not a 34 year old one

my experiece was exactly the same as yours, its been 2 months now and the lumps are still there.i think they are the tubes that are now tied.my advice to anyman thinking of having this done is dont!i would rather put my balls on a table and hit them with a sledge hammer than have it done again.3 days for recovery is total c**p.i was in pain for three long weeks.if you must have it done make sure you get put to sleep,i wish i had!!

Been one week now for me. Small lump that aches when touched. I went back to work 30 min after the procedure (desk job). Very little pain... No pills.no ice. Just four sets of trunk underwear for support. I'll be happy once the lump goes down.

Hello all, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through the same problem.   I'm 6 days post vasectomy with a significant hematoma of the left scrotum.  I'm also a physician.  Like you, I did not anticipate this much discomfort.  My right side is doing well with mild discomfort compared to the left.   My left feels like it took a line drive from a batted softball.  Almost like someone is squeezing the testicle way too much if you know what I mean.  The whole left scrotum is black along with bruising up into the left pelvis.  It is also very tender to any manipulation.  Don't even want to think about sex or physical activities.  I'm also a runner and not liking the fact that I'm going to be out for some time.   I know this is a hematoma (clotted blood localized to the area of bleeding).   I'm aware that the bruising into the pelvis occurred because my testicle was retracted into this area when I was using ice after the procedure.  So, bleeding obviously occurred there as well.  I know this is going to take weeks to resolve.   However, I do anticipate some improvement with time.  There will be increasing discomfort when in different positions (It's 2am right now and not sleeping due to pain).  I don't anticipate going back to the urologist.   However, I will if the pain is so severe that I'm nauseous or vomiting.   Also, if there is any increasing redness (not bruising) and heat that may be related to an infection.  Lastly, if the scotum continues to increase in size, then report back to the urologist.   I hope this is some help.   I'll try to keep posting with my progress as well.

I had a scrotal hematoma after a vasectomy reversal on my right side. It was about the size of baseball. I kid you not. First off it has to turn into an internal "scab" before the body will start to dissolve it, so expect nothing to change for 5-6 weeks. After that it will slowly dissolve about 1-2% per day. I got mine May 10 2013 and it is smaller than a golf ball now. Don't freak out, just wait it out.

I put Arnica gel on mine and kept it from getting knocked around. The pain stops in a couple weeks but it takes months for the hematoma to dissolve.

I had my procedure done on 19/11/2013 it's now 6/2//2014 so two weeks shy of 3 months. Almost immediatly after my non scalpel surgery I ended up with balls the size of avocados (no joke), & the balls and most of my schlong was black & blue. Doc said that there was nothing he could do but he prescribed me some antibiotics so there would be no infection (I recommend you do this regardless of having an infection or not, just to be on the safe side). he told me it should be gone by x-mas!!! The next two weeks were very difficult but I got through it. In the third week, the left side started to reduce in size quite quickly but the right remained avocado sized for another couple of weeks. The pain I had was mainly from the pulling, but luckily for me no real pain in the testicals. I went back after x mas (1.5months after the op) as the right side (above my testie) was still swollen and hard, the size of a golf ball. He said he could drain it but there are risks of complications, a return of avocado balls and infection, so recommended that I let nature take its cause, which I did. Now just shy of three months, and I would agree that the hard scab left from hemotoma reduces at about 1/2% a day, it's now walnut sized so I recon if all is well I should be back to normal in April some time. 5/6 months after op.

Do I regret having the op? Well, had someone told me what I'd be going through then no, I would never had gone through with it. But, if all goes well from now and the swelling is gone completely in 2 months with no other set backs, then I am happy I had it done. By the way I have been having regular sex for over a month with no issues, and about to have my seamen tested for the first time next month. I hope this is helpful, but please don't believe the doc when he tells you that he has never had any complications, it's more common then they say!
