Hello, After reading your post I would suggest you get a second opinion. I was diagnosed with Endo approximately 15 years ago and I now have two children. And in all my years of seeing specialists I have never heard about women's "right" ovary shutting down.? I would pursue the possibility of endometriosis. You cannot be "immuned" to endo because you have children. This doctor clearly does not have a good understanding of what it is. Just my opinion.

My mom got endometriosis after having my brother and me. It sounds like your doc has no idea what he's talking about.

I also have hypothyroidism as well as these clots. How did you get your hypothyroidism under control? My doctor just can't get it right . It has been two years and I feel horrible.

Okay, i read some of these replies thinking it would help my situation and it didn't it just confused me even more. I am 18 and for a while when I first started my period it was irregular and i was happy about it cause my friends would have it every month and I didn't. Besides that point recently I been getting on my period every month and it seems normal I barley have cramps I don't eat much and I sleep a ton, but I started to notice this period I have these big blood clots that come out when I use the bathroom or shower (wise I do a lot ). It got to the point when I am in the shower and the blood clots come out it stops up the drain. I really don't know what to do at this point, and its kinda scary cause i can't turn to my mom and ask cause I don't live with her and when I ask she has no clue of what I am experiencing. Can someone please help.

Hi, I take it by what you say that you have always had heavy periods or have they only just become heavy since the clotting started?
There are many reason clotting can happen and it can just be caused by hormone changes if it's just a one off every so often if it is on a regular monthly basis it's happening then I would make an appoint to see your doctor and get checked out.
Hope this has helped.

I have had 2 kids as well and no, you are not immune to it. I would find somebody who has clinical interests in that type of diagnosis (Endometriosis/Adenomyses) and talk to them. In reality all gynos should be willing to help in anything reproductive but some don't sympathy whatsoever. I have never heard of an overy shutting down once a year. I would say the doctor you went to needs to put that bottle down and retire his medical license. I could be wrong but he sounds kinda looney

Take some over the counter iron tablets. Too low iron is seriously dangerous

I know this was an old post, but this was the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Where in the hell did your doctor go to school? Are they even licensed to practice? No your "right" ovary does not "shut down". WTF and you believed that?

I had this issue back in 2007. I have a lot done also and they said it's because my uterus wall doesn't thin out the way it should when I have my period. They put me on provera 10 mg the first 10 days of the month. Since then periods have been better and regular.
