You need to your doctor asap. It is certainly a problem. He should run a test on you.

I also went off the pill on my own because of my age "52" first month was great thought I wasn't going to have any then it hit - I bled for 5 months straight - finally I had enough and went back in the pill (doc said it is very safe to be on this low dosage pill). After my first pack I started as I should then 2 days in I could feel my uterus contracting - well I passed (what I thought was a clot) the size of my hand and about 1 1/2" thick (yes I had to examine it) but it wasn't dark like a blood clot it was more whitish - doc said it sounded like a fibroid (well I thought I was having a 4Th child) - now trying to get things under control - I just want my insides out - I don't need them anymore!! Has anyone else experienced this (I looked for pictures of Uterian fibroids and none look like came out of me).

My situation is very much similar to yours..I've been to the Dr numerous of times and the only thing they can tell me is that I have mennoraghia or however u spell it. I experience heavy bleeding and clots for almost a month or more, and though it's painless it's so uncomfortable.

My cramps feel exactly like contractions as well. However, I have had three periods in the last year in which on my heaviest flow day, all blood flow ceases and severe cramping begins. As though the clot is so large that it is impeding the flow. The excruciating pain lasts roughly 12-18 hours, I pass the large clot, and blood flow returns to normal. It is very bizarre. My Gyno scratched his head, his nurse said impossible for the clot to be so large that it impedes blood flow, and another nurse on-call described a rare instance of this very thing happening to her. Has anyone else had this occur?

I did the vaginal ultrasound. I took every birth control on the market. I just did every blood test known to man. The exploratory surgery my cousin had done. She says recovery time is quick like 5 days or less. It's the only test allowing doctor's to see everything. I recommend that test or the xray test. Ultrasounds usually won't catch anything but you have to get one to get those other tests. Get tested. Remember it's ultrasound first then xray.

This happened to me lastnight, and I was totally freaking out.
My period usually is very heavy, with no cramping, and it last around 7-9 days.
Well, I got a birth control shot in August because I had been bleeding for 3 months straight very heavily and still was at the time of my obgyn appointment. I was told by my doctor that I had PCOS and this shot will "regulate" my period after a coupke of them and I will not get my period for 3 months and if I do it will be extremely light.
It is now November, and I had been cramping for the past 3 days so horribly to the point I could not stand for more than 30 seconds not to mention I had very dark brown spotting.. so I assumed it was my period and this was a side effect of the birth control and I didn't think much of it.
Now back to yesterday. I woke up in a pool.. a literal POOL of my own bright red blood (no huge clots, nothing bigger than a size of a kidney bean, which is normal for me), as soon as I got out of bed I felt the worst cramping pains I have ever felt in my life.. but again I thought this was normal, and maybe my body just needed to shed all of this blood because it wasn't for the first couple of days I'd been spotting. So, I got up washed myself off took a couple of tylonel (which did not work at all) and got back into bed.
As the day went by I had been in and out of the restroom at least every 10 minutes because the bleeding would not stop. I tried inserting a tampon, and when I would It would feel like I was being pounded in the uterus with a hammer, the cramps got so much worse.. so I stuck to pads to see whem it would stop.
After a while around 7pm the cramps stopped. Or at least mild down a bit.
Then as soon as 9pm came around it was back to horrible cramping again.
At 11pm I went to the restroom to take a shower (I just wanted to lay in the warm water, because I heard it would help) when I got off of the toilet and put one foot into my shower I felt like somthing just punched me in the uterus and a huge 6 inch dark red blood clot with white tissue fell onto my bathtub floor.
I immediately called my boyfriend into the bathroom and said I needed to go to the ER now and showed him the clot.
He started freaking out and got me some clothes and called my dad to let him know what was going on.
I fell on my bathroom floor because I had been so dizzy from the loss of blood all day long, and started throwing up in my toliet because my cramps were even worse now.
As soon as I got enough strength I got up, put my clothes on and he carried me to the car so we could go to the ER.
At the ER we brought the clot in a baggy to show the nurse and everyone was saying it was a miscarriage.. which didn't make sense to me because I was on this birth control shot. I explained to them I was on the dhot, and they said there could still be a chance of it being a miscarriage.
They brought me up to the room, and I had to have a catheter inserted for a urine sample, as well as a pap smear, and a vaginal ultrasound, which all hurt like hell because I was already in alot of pain at the time from the cramps.
The nurses came back about 15 minutes later and have me pain killers, an IV, and drew 10 tubes of blood from my arm and back of my knee.
They came back every 30 minutes to make sure my vitals were okay, and didn't answer any questions I was asking, and did not take the clot I had brought in, or even looked at it.
After about 2 hours of waiting the nurse came back in and said it isn't a miscarriage you're not pregnant, it's just period pain you should be good to go.
I was so upset at the way the majority of these nurses were treating me, and did not want to listen to me when I said I had pcos or answer any questions I had.
They discharged my with a "servers period pain" diagnoses and said I need to go to my obgyn asap to let them know this was a side effect from the birth control they gave me so I can be put on a separate one.
I left the hospital feeling as bad as I did coming in, and was not given any medicine prescription to take with me, basically I was just handed a flyer that read "how to deal with period pain and bleeding" like if this was my first period.

Hi, I have hypothyroidism and have had a period from September until now still November with large clots. There are days which I'm thinking am I dying?! Lol but the size of the clots do range from like small sliver of liver to ping pong balls, or so it feels like. No pain at all. Just wondering if all this was normal or am I alone. I can't go to the Dr. For lack of health insurance.

My wife has been dealing with many of these same problems, she has excessive pain, clotting, and has even passed out from the pain. She has hyperthyroidism and is a factor V Leiden carrier. Her mother is a registered nurse and she has been to many doctors, all have dismissed her problems as everyone else seems to have dismissed everyone's here. She has just seen an acupuncturist for the first time today and has already experienced relief. Highly recommend checking into it. I am sorry for all the people that disregard your pain and know you are not alone. Keep fighting. This medical system is broken and needs to be repaired.

I would advise to get checked if experiencing large blood clots. I had a the same issue two years ago and went to get it checked out by my gp I had a miscarriage and did not know I was pregnant so I would highly advise if blood clots are unusual for you to get checked by a professional
