Hi, my 6 months old baby has recently started to snore and there is a rattle sound coming from his chest when he`s asleep. I have already tried to use asperator to help him, but no result. I fear that he might have a lung disease, laryngo malacia, but the doc have checked his lungs and said nothing in that direction. Does anybody have any experience with laryngo malacia?
Hi, my daughter is 8 month old and she was diagnosed with laryngo malacia when she was only 3 months old. Her breathing was heavy. Her laryngo malacia is now still here, and she is tube fed. Me and my husband are going on OT sessionc and feeding therapies. Her breathing got improved, now that she`s not eating normally (by mouth). A pulmunologist said that she would probably grow out of laryngo malacia in one year, but I`m not so sure I could trust them.
hi petra, 2 weeks ago i rushed my 5 week old baby into ER after i noticed she was turning blue, they immedietely hooked her onto oxygen and a c-pap ventillator, they took bloods and took fluid from her spine and sent it all off for testing, they also did an x-ray of her chest. Results came back that she had bronciolitus (a lung infection) and was given anti-biotics for a few days, 2 days later she was moved up to the normal ward (she was in intensive care), I noticed a couple of days later that she was not doing as well and that evening she was taken back to CICU, where she was put back on the c-pap and more bloods were taken for testing where they found she had caught another bug, so was given meds again to fight the infection, specialists spoke to me about doing a procedure that involves putting a camera down the throat and checking her air-ways, they felt that she fit the criteria of a baby with floppy air-ways (Laryngo malacia) and asked my husband and i to sign consent forms for the procedure and that if they found laryngo malacia they would operate on her with a few incisions in her air-ways, which they did, its been 5 days now since her operation, she is recovering well and she no longer needs assisted oxygen, and every couple of hours they take her off the c-pap machine, and she breaths all on her own, its going to be a long process for her to do it all on her own, she is currently being tube fed, and they just started introducing her feeds orally again with some trouble as she has to co-ordinate her suckling with swallowing and remembering to breath all on her own. ss from n.s.w australia
my 26 month old son was diagnosed when he was about 6 months old not as severe as your case but not to good I was told that he would grow out of it by 2-21/2 but it hasn't regressed any We actually have an appointment this week and I am going to request surgery to have it removed I had a bad experience w/ his regular ENT so now I will dicuss it with the specialist don't let them brush you off you know your child if you feel she needs the surgery reach out for more opinions with specialist sounds to me she is at more risk now than she would be going through surgery i am very sorry for your family's situation just be strong and good luck
