I have had left flank pain for about 3 weeks. Pain gets so bad that I thought it was a ruptured ovarian cyst. Doctors said it wasnt, so we did a renal scan. All negative. Not pregnant and have not had a period since Oct '11. Any ideas.  The pain gets real bad. Feels like I balloon is blowing up inside me and then very sharp pain in the vaginal area along with the rectum. Feels like they are both being ripped out.

Have you been tested for most common infections that can attack your pelvic area, from urinary tract infection to pelvic inflammatory disease? Or STDs? Because all these infections can cause sharp lower abdominal pain that radiates through your genital region, even a fairly simple UTI if it's left untreated. But since you haven't had your period for this long, it also might be related to your reproductive organs. You said doctor said it wasn't ovarian cyst, but did the doctor do an ultrasound before that?

Yes the dr did an ultrasound and found nothing to cause the pain. Also did a pap smear and all came back good.
