I always blamed it on my heavier pants rubbing on the outside of my legs in the winter as mine is also missing where my pockets rub against my upper legs. Most of it attempts to come back in the summer when I wear shorts.

I like my hairy legs but I can't stand when I get short spots or bald spots. I've been using two types of PANTENE PRO-V. I don't think the hairs which are shorter are growing and the bare spots aren't filling in.

38 years old. Started losing about a year ago. Started out as small patch on my ankle, now whole side of my leg and starting on my calves is losing also. went to the doctor a week ago. Suspected diabetes or heart problem. Doc did a heart rate check, pulse check, distal pulse check(in my ankle) capillary refill test, and also checked my blood sugar. all came back perfect, no poblems whatsoever. Doc basically said Im in perfect health and not to worry about it. Weird as hell.

Yes, minoxidil (rogaine) will help. I've had the same problem on my both legs but also some parts (like small circles) on my arms and at first it caused me a lot of stress.
Use minoxidil 5% . Maybe many of you are missing sulfur as well. So, make some onion juice before you go to sleep and rub it nicely on your legs. Do it one evening after using minoxidil. 3rd evening use mixed castor oil and rosemarie oil. Then again minoxidil and so on. Btw, you can use minoxidil in the morning as well. If you are overweight, loose pounds, Don't smoke! Avoid plastic products, gmo food, sugar, drugs and check your testosterone level. There are many antiestrogens, so find it and use it because it could be one of the reasons. I'm 46 and have hairy legs, arms and chests even more then before.

I am a 45 year old working in the Alberta oilsands. I noticed hair loss on my outer calves when I ran a D11t cat dozer. I racked it up to my coveralls rubbing all day everyday on my legs. Well I have been out of heavy equipment for 6 years now and my outer calves are as smooth as a babys ass, would make a woman jealous. I dont know why, but after reading a few blogs about this I feel much better knowing its a common problem with middle aged men. I have no other symptoms and am definately not low on testosterone or have any sexual dysfunctions. I am learning to live with it being gone forever and not worrying anymore.

look on your body for fungus like tinea versicolor or jock itch. Mostly the problem is fungus on your body. You itch that part and then itch somewhere else it spreads. Now, as per similar patches on both legs, most probably you are having a fungus near scrotum or you can say jock itch. Sometimes it cannot be seen easily. So, try to take the picture with your phone and enlarge it and see.
There can be other reason like your tight pants but never take risk. Fungus is common with old people because the skin become loose and easily get infected with bacteria.

Wow, I am 42 and probably for the last 20+ years I've had the exact same bald patches on both legs from ankle all the way up my calf a and side of my legs up to the top of my calf. It was always an ongoing joke with myself and my friends as when I was younger and always played football as a winger the joke was that I ran so fast that it takes the hairs of my legs as its on the outer side of my legs. Today I was at the beach with my nephew and nieces it was a hot day so I wore shorts. My niece while asked while on beach was do I shave my legs and it was rather loud as she's 6 yrs old. I replied no why do u ask and she says because u don't have hairs there and pointed to my calfs. I looked down while saying I know princess and to my horror it has now started spreading around to my shins so now it actually looks like I have shaved both legs down one side from the front around the outside to the back of my calf. I didn't really think much about it over the years gone by but reading some of the messages on here as made me think twice about this now so an appointment to the doctors for me in the morning. If anyone gets any updates please keep on posting as I will be after my visit to my doctors.

I'm 75 and I have something similar but I figure it is just wear. At first it was where my pockets rubbed against my legs and it was different depending on how deep the pockets were so I'm sure it was caused by the pockets.

In recent years I have begun wearing blue jeans which are a lot stiffer fabric than my other pants. Wearing those the hair is all worn off the outside if my legs. In the summer I have begun wearing shorts and the hair starts to grow back until I switch to jeans again for the winter.

Yeah but, if you're northern European you can probably drink milk as an adult and you're likely immune to the black plague.

It's not Keratosis Pilaris. As someone who is very familiar with Keratosis Pilaris and currently has this, I can tell you it has a distinctly different appearance.
