Given the lack of fear expressed in the above posts, I would not conclude that anyone above is experiencing a panic attack. The primrary symptom of a panic attack is fear, and without extreme fear, it's not a panic attack.

I would like to add my input on these symptoms. I occasionally get very similar symptoms to the ones being described, although typically not as severe. I do NOT believe that these are brought on by a panic attack. I do however, believe that after the initial onset, it can turn into a type of panic attack, keeping yourself as calm as possible always seems to help me.
Anyways here is my story. I am a 28 year old male in relatively good health. I occasionally (maybe once every two months) go to live music shows, and typically ingest some MDMA (I am not advocating the use of illegal drugs to anybody, I am simply trying to provide as much detail as I can about my experiences. Also for those of you unfamiliar, MDMA is an upper, so it sort of goes along with the caffeine theories). Usually, while under the influence of this substance, I am doing a lot of dancing and ingesting virtually no food for long periods of time (8+ hours). It is at these times I have experienced the worst symptoms (not necessarily during the heavy use but at the come down period, after my body is drained). I get the typical tingling in my hands and arms, sometimes in my feet and face a bit as well. A few times it has been so bad it feels as though my muscles are seizing up and it becomes VERY difficult to use my hands properly. Hot flashes and serious sweating seem to accompany this, although I have never had a migrane or passed out.
I also experience very mild symptoms when I go for long stretches without proper food consumption (no breakfast or lunch). I get slight tingling, but usually never a full blown attack. As others have stated, caffeine seems to be a catalyst for this as well
Getting some liquid and some sugars in my also seems to help the symptoms, and they usually subside for me after 10 minutes (longer for the severe attacks, the usually require me to lie down for at least 30 minutes) or so if I ingest some food/sugar.
Again I am not advocating or promoting the use of illegal substances, I simply wanted to provide as much information as possible so that others could fully understand my experiences.

Whenever I drink more than one cup of coffee or drink coffee two days straight, I experience tingling in my hands and a slight numbness on the left side of my throat. Recently, I started drinking a sparkling mountain water drink that contains green tea and some other things on a daily basis. About three weeks ago I started to notice tingling in my left hand and forearm and a slight feeling of numbness on the left side of my throat. I think that some people may have allergies to caffeine. I'm going to speak w/my doctor about this on Friday. No comment on the beer. I have no idea.

Hi I had my first attack in 2010, I came home from work, went for a quick jog around the block, when I got back home I had something to eat, went to the bathroom & when I came out I couldn't breath took a few short steps to my bed before I almost collapsed, chest felt very thight, numb Down left hand side of my body thought I was going to die, since that night I have these episodes regularly, mostly triggered by food IE, coffee, alcohol, spicy food, if i drink too much still or sparkling water, I've tryed to avoid these foods for months at a time and it helped a little bit, but I still had the symptoms sometimes, had blood tests, ECGs, My GP said I'm in good health, hate living my life in fear of these attacks just wish I could be diagnosed so I know what the problem is, I didn't list all the symptoms because its so difficult to describe how I feel when it happends, I think the Doctor just thinks I'm NUTS, any way thanks for reading my very unarticulated comments, drop me an email if you feel the same or have any suggestions on what tests to do, you can reach me at any time here on SH.
Thanks Ronan

My vision has been strange and I went to the eye doctor and they fitted me for glasses. Soon after I would notice that it was NOT my eye site or did i need glasses. Some days my site is fine and some days most days that is, it is blurry with film stuff in it that is not there to wipe out. I get cloudy headed, lightheaded, dizzy. I am sick to my stomach all the time off and on and I am usually very tired and sore all over. When i feel dizzy or light headed i try to focus my eyes else where or move them around and it seems to help for a very short time. Sleeping is what makes it all go away but as soon as i wake up and start to move around again , here it comes! The doctor says I am a mystery but i dont think so, I think they just wont do rare testing thats outside the norm of these symptoms because i am on medicaid! They call me a mystery! It would not be a mystery if a REAL Doctor would do something for me!

I do have panic attacks and the problems we are talking about have nothing to do with the Panic attacks!!
I can be sitting in my chair playing on the computer and then gradually everything fades so I can barley see the screen or the keys. How ever I guess it is ok I cant see the keys because by now my hands are shaking so bad I can't press the keys

I totally feel you about the doctor thinking you are nuts. Mine has done all kinds of tests and everything just keeps coming up great. Except for the little thing were I can be sitting in my chair playing on the computer and then gradually everything fades so I can barley see the screen or the keys. How ever I guess it is ok I cant see the keys because by now my hands are shaking so bad I can't press the keys. So my doctor has taken me off work and revoked my driving until he can figure this all out.

Just wanted to say that i had brain surgery back in February and I am currently on seizure medications and high blood pressure medication. Every now and then (daily resently) I get an "episode" where i see a blinking light in the corner of my eye which appears to be in a blind spot. This blinking light looks like a rainbow color or silver. The light pulsates and last about 10-20 minutes if i try to calm down. It is hard to see while the light in there but goes away after several minutes of calming down. Does anyone know what this is?
