I have shared some of the same symptoms as some of you. I’m a healthy 27 year old woman who works out most days and eats a balance diet. So what could be the problem? Well, I self diagnosed myself with having low acid in my stomach. Sounds crazy but it’s true. When you experience symptoms like, upset stomach, bloating, digestive issues, eating small meals but feeling extremely full do you take antacids? In my case, yes! And it would work, for a moment at least. Then the symptoms would come right back. And they would bring friends like lightheadedness, fatigue, anxiety and heart palpitations. I didn’t know what to think. In fact, I thought I had GERD. However, I didn’t really have the true symptoms that come with that chronic illness.

Anyway, I discovered that I need to take a herbal approach. To deal with my upset stomach, bloating and digestive issues I decided to drink pure ginger tea. Literally, it’s the ginger root that helps with digestion and alleviates the bloating and upset stomach. In addition, I am taking a supplement call Betaine HCI. You want to get the kind that has at least 30 mg of Pepsin. You must take this with food! This will help the stomach produce higher concentrations of acid. This will in turn reduce other symptoms that are produced because of the feeling of not knowing what’s wrong like, anxiety and heart palpitations.

Using Betaine HCI with pepsin with “re-train” your stomach to make its own acid by itself. Please follow the instructions on the bottle. However, I recommend you start with one pill at the beginning of each meal. You may increase your dosage if necessary. If you feel a burning sensation, stop taking this supplement! That’s a sign that your stomach is producing more acid then it should be. Please listen to your body.

After a few weeks or maybe a few months (depending on the person) of taking this supplement, you should be fine. You’ll know that the supplement is not needed anymore when you take it and you feel a burning sensation in your stomach.

I found this to be a helpful remedy. I am not a doctor or a person who has specialized in medicine. However, I wanted to share my success story so that others may benefit from it. I hope this helps.

Consider Irritable Bowel Syndrome (or possibly borderline Hypothyroidism). I'm in the same boat, with lots of questions and few concrete answers.

I have had similar lightheadedness after eating, as well as chest fullness and the need to belch. It can last for hours. After losing a ton of weight, being in and out of hospitals and going through a battery of tests, one doctor finally gave me a gastric emptying test and I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Gastroparesis. They aren't sure what caused it- it could be post-viral... but I have helped my symptoms dramatically by getting tested for food allergies and cutting out gluten, dairy, eggs and soy from my diet. I'm in the process of eliminating yeast as well. I hope this helps some!

Almost forgot: they suggest cutting down on fat and fiber when the gastroparesis is at it's worst. I tried liquids for a while till I grew stronger.

I have the exact same symptoms as wjwyatt and Tone. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Wjwyatt its really scary I was taking cell tech from gnc for about 2 times a week whenever I lifted weights for about 2 years.  May be a factor.

Please I have seen my primary care doctor 4 times, a neurologist, Cardiologist, Otolaryngolist.

Now my neurologist want me to do a sleep study.

Who should I do next? What have you done to prevent this constant dizziness?

Hi DeeAnn, my experience mirrors yours. had to learn all lot of this by trial and error. Eliminating wheat and gluten solved a lot but there were still intermittent episodes. What do you have as protein for your breakfast? eggs?
