I too have addisons and i'm on 15mg of hydrocortisone a day. I just don't do what the dr. says to do. I take my meds every other day or skip at least 2-3 days in a rowe and i feel just fine. I'm able to function like there is nothing wrong with me. When i start to get tired i know i need my meds. If you do this you will drop the weight also ,cause i have and i was even heavy before i started on this medicine. I keep my salt intake up and drink lots of fluids and i feel just fine. Good luck to you all....
I have Adrenocortical carcinome ACC. I have been on Hydrocortisone for over 4 years now, for the first 3yrs I lost weight going down to 112 lbs but this last year I am putting on weight I am now 142 lbs and gaining, I didn't mind at first as I was far to thin at 112 lbs, I wouldn't call myself fat now but I have gainded weight around my waist and my love handles hang out over all my clothes, I am on 20mls daily, my adrenal gland has started to work after been on Mitotane (which puts your other adrenal gland to sleep) but my endocrine doc tell me that it is not fully working so I have to continue with 20ml, well he tinks I am taking 25ml. are ther any excercise that I can do for my waist and love handle
If you have addisons the last thing you want to do is cut out salt, unless you want to become a regular feature at your local A&E dept.
Don't know if you are still struggling to exercise, but as someone who has had primary Addison's (in addition to POTS, Graves, and gluten intolerance) for the last 14 years, let me say that the more you make yourself exercise (even if it is just three minutes on the elliptical, like I started out at), the better your Addison's will get. I couldn't even walk for a while, and now I do an average of about 4-5 miles a day, plus a strength training workout 3-5 days per week. It has made my quality of life SO much better. If there is anything I can do to help, or any advice I can offer, please let me know, and good luck!
