Hiya, you may want to ask about endometreosis, i had been having severe pain in lower back and sides, and they thought it was then gastroenteritis and then it was an ovarian cyst, with every other diagnosis inbetween!. in the end i opted for a laparoscapy and found my appendix was set in the wrong place, but that i also had patches of endo over ovaries which was causing the pain. Endo is the spreading of the uterus cells outside of the womb, it mainly tends to stay around the outside of your ovaries, but it can spread to the bladder and also the bowels which can cause blood in stools and urine!...other symptoms include pain in lower abdomin and sides, pain during sex and heavy periods. Its pretty tough to diagnose as it rarely shows up on ultrasounds and even with intimate examinations. Mainly the choices are laparoscapy either to investigate it or to burn the scar tissue away, hormone treatments such as the pill, or pain management with heavy duty pain killers. I don't know whether this will help, but it is worth the investigation into it!

I had the same thing for years. About 6 years ago I was rushed to emergency for surgery. I had 2 abdominal surgeries in the past. I was suffering from adhesions due to those surgeries. The operation took 4 hours to clean them all out. Apparently all of the floating organs in that area had fused to my pelvis. The Dr. applied a special solution inside to try and cut down on the development of future ones. The only problem now is they are caused by surgery, so I have a chance of developing them again. The pain however has been gone for a few years. I have found that stretching exercises help reduce there development because they do not stretch like normal tissue. Good Luck, feel better soon

Same as rdooley- adhesions. I also went on a round the world quest until my GP sent me to a surgeon.

Do you have Crohns or UC? I had lower right back pain for a while and I also have crohn's disease. These stretches are the only thing that ended up helping.

I hope that all of this worked out. Glad you are at least taking care of yourself! Best of health to you!

I too am having these symptoms. Doctors only want to check my kidneys and then give up. I have had at least 11 abdominal surgeries and have had adhesions during many of those. I will definitely insist that someone check for adhesions. This absolute torture.

Hi, I am 29 and am having the same pains for over a month now, The Dr. has not been able to figure out the cause. Has your pain subsided at all since this post?

Just read this post and comments, I have exactly the same, was told a few years ago I have a cyst in my right kidney, last week I had all these symptoms, went to the doctor who said I had a trace of blood in my urine and said I probably had a kidney infection and gave me antibiotics, I did feel abait better but know the pain is worse, so another trip to the Doctors, but looking at all your comments it may be a wasted journey.

Why would be getting adhesions in our guts? I have never had surgery in my abdomen and although I need surgery on my back, I have not had it yet and it usually bothers the left side. There has to be a reason other than adhesion if I have never had surgery. I hope we all find out soon.

I have been having the same pain in my right abdomen. Several months ago I had my gall bladder removed after being in the hospital for a week. Was having this pain before gall bladder removed, but not as bad. I have gastroparesis which I was diagnosed with a few months ago also. Since my gall bladder has been removed, I had a stent removed from my pancreas. We thought that was what was causing my pain, but the pain has gone from hurting several times a day to all the time. My gastroenterologist did a colonoscopy last week and said everything looked good except for a tortorus colon and adhesions. He said the pain in my abdomen was coming from my back. I have degenerative disk disease and arthritis. Have had neck surgery twice. Just had a low back mri. We will see I guess. I just don't see how you can hurt in your abdomen from back problems, but my Dr. assured me I could.

Hi all - I get a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen, when I bend over even slightly, or reach down to pick up something. I get the same pain when rising up from a chair or the toilet. It's right above my right pelvic bone, and seems to shoot around to the back. This has been happening for only about two weeks. I have had two major abdominal surgeries, but that was 20+ years ago. I absolutely hate to go to the doctor, and will not set foot in the ER, unless they carry me in on a stretcher! (So far, that hasn't happened!) Of course I will go to the doc if it escalates into something unbearable. Until then, I'll keep reading this message board, and hope to see some answers?
