My daughter has a pet mouse, a white one. Ever so cute. It is about 1.5 years old now, and it has started to get a bump on its belly. What do you think? Is this cancer? What should we do with the mouse? My daughter is very attached to it and I am sure she would be very upset if we put it to sleep.

Does the mouse seem to have any pain? Unfortunately, pet rats and mice most commonly die from cancerous growths on their bodies, and once they have started to develop there isn't an awful lot you can do about it. That age is about the age when they tend to die any way, so I think there isn't much you can do.
